Saracens definitely off colour. Kruis does look out of sorts, lacking the kind of power and authority you would expect. Carrying a knock might explain his tailing off of form.
Vellacot has looked good every time he's had a chance. He is English - at least he was born in England and has, i think, played all his rugby here. He has played age group rugby for Scotland, so obviously has some family link, but he is the kind of talent England might want to take a serious look at.
We've already got two scrum-halfs thankyou- don't need anymore
Vellacott was born and bred in England with an English father and Scottish mother. AFAIK, he’s not tied to Scotland yet and IIRC, he turned down a move to Glasgow which could suggest he’s not totally pledged his allegiance to the Scots.

If I were him, I’d bide my time. Although fivepointer was joking, Eddie’s refusal to pick anyone other than Youngs or Care means we’ll have a real void at 9 post World Cup and he won’t be up against any experienced contenders. Youngs will most likely be around for a year or two after that but, no more. We’ll also have a new coach who might want s new approach.

To be honest, Eddie will need a third scrum-half to go to the RWC and the only reason that he's not given anyone else a a chance is that no-one else has demanded one. If Vellacott can get ahead of Heinz, he's got to be in the running.

Is Maunder still injured? I thought I saw him in one of there AW lineups but he’s not in the Chiefs’ squad tomorrow.

Robson plainly isn’t fancied, Spencer doesn’t play enough, Townsend doesn’t look good enough. There aren’t any other realistic contenders are there???

Erm, I was trying, and clearly failing, to make a joke about Eddie not trying to use scrum halfs outside of Care and Youngs.

I got it; you can take a mod to water, but you can't make him think
