I think he’s quite big? And runs good lines? Hmm.

Jones at 12 and Harris at 13. Byron on wing.
Wilson and Maitland on bench.
Rest as expected.

Considering injuries I think that's a good team.
Nice to see Welsh start, not sure about Gordy. Hopefully Seymour has got his head right.

Du Preez 8. Am cool with that.
Keen to see how McGuigan gets on too. Am in row 8 somewhere near half-way, so I’ll be able to keep him right.

Happy enough with that given the injuries.
Surprised he has gone for McCallum over Rae though.
Very good bench all things considered.

Aye, wouldn't have been arsed if he went with Batman at 8 either. Would love to see Du Preez of old, pre injury show up. Been saying that for a few years now though.General Zod wrote:Du Preez 8. Am cool with that.

Be interested if we get fast ball Laidlaw near the end. We know he can do it. We saw it about 8 years ago... Otherwise, I cant see why we have him in there other than last resort kicking and half back cover. I just don't think our high tempo game works if we slow it down at 60.

Very interested to see how Jones gets on at 12 what with playing most of his super rugby there, but all his success being in attack being in the outside channels.
Harris really has to keep all from going sideways.

I've been wanting to see H Jones at 12. Know doodlysquat about Harris. Is he our secret weapon?

Harris is the only nagging doubt. He's decent for Falcons but not really tested at international level.

WTF
Called BBT and Reid right but expected Taylor or Dunbar to make it
Id be so much happier with Jones at 13 but wonder if they play left and right and switch in attack,

Re: 6N starting team
Concern with Jones at 12 is that his best attribute has been his outside break. Dunbar rarely gets the ball in space when he plays for Scotland. Hopefully they are planning to mix it up a bit

Re: 6N starting team
I know I bang on about this pretty incessantly but I’m actually quite hopeful. Dunbar hasn’t been incisive enough in his running at 12 for a while and doesn’t have the acceleration to really surprise anyone with a change of angle there.Cameo wrote:Concern with Jones at 12 is that his best attribute has been his outside break. As long as we can keep enough big forward runners hovering either side of Russell and Jones I think they will do well. Harris just needs to straighten things up and provide a bit of muscle.

Taylor has concussion issues and IIRC was supposed to see a specialist.

Re: 6N starting team
Anyone have any views on whether the new centre partnership will change our style at all?
I know this is based on last years 6N so Cotter rather than Townsend but I cant imagine Jones having as few carries as Dunbar did. Could we be aiming to split Jones and Russel left and right a bit more or is Jones a bit more of a distributor than Dunbar?
Alternatively, if we are actually planning 12. Harris 13. Jones, what would be the harm in naming them the other way round and getting Gatland thinking?

On another note, getting closer to the same number of Embra and Weeg players. Must be a good sign.

I think Jones at 12 is complete mind games by Toonie, no one on twitter , here or any board has even thought about that, I reckon we all expected Dunbar , Taylor or possibly Horne, i think Jones at 12 is there just to make the welsh guys question everything.
If anything, with Toonie he changes the game style up game to game, against Samoa we kicked alot, against the all blacks we hardly did and then against Oz we mixed it up ,
