I think this is just a selection to cater for injuries to Dunbar and Taylor. Hopefully, Harris does the biz and makes it difficult for Toony to change v France.

That said, I’d expect Jones to run a bit more than Dunbar has been doing at 12, but that’s about it. I hope Harris is as fast as people are saying. Could be a fun last 20 if the welsh are blowing and we get quick Grieg.

Jones is a 12 that’s been on safari at 13, not a 13 that’s been dropped into playing 12. From what I’ve seen he’s a better inside center than outside.

Baz, Mike will know. Mike, where’s Scott?

Im not sure i can agree with that, a back exists to score tries he has a good high scoring record / game

Don’t follow Java? All I’m saying is I don’t understand the concern about Jones at 12. He’s played a shit load of good rugby at 12.

Scott injured I think, as should generally be the assumption. If not currently injured he’s only had about 10 minutes this season so judge.

And as far as I’ve seen yeah Jones played 12 mostly in SA. I believe he played wing a bit too. I don’t think either centre spot is really out of position.

I disagree and to an extend EinE although you can tell im right

For me 13 is the most difficult position to defend,
12 is easier to defend even though you tend to have bigger ball carriers coming down your channel

12 is also easier to play in attack as your main role is to straighten the line and either smash yup or pass to a 13 running a different line
13 in attack is harder as you have to be prepared to get ball and change direction

Im not saying Jones cant play 12 , but i do think he is an outstanding attacker at 13 and pretty decent defender

I don't expect to see us play in a traditional manner where 12s do what they would normally or 13s do what they normally do to be fair.

Hmmm.. I suspect we will be going once again, for the full Tooney, "Heart Attack Special".
Exciting, but scarey to watch.

Awfy nice if it works, though.

“Harris has featured in each of Newcastle's 13 Premiership fixtures this season, starting 12. He tops the league charts for offloads completed, has beaten 25 defenders and averages just under 10 tackles a game, with a tackle completion rate just shy of 90%.

"We've been really impressed with him," said Townsend. "He's been very consistent.

"Defensively he's stood out, and a massive part of winning games, being successful, is having a strong defence, and he's shown that this year.

"We've been really impressed with him in the last two or three weeks before coming to camp, and with the unavailability of Alex Dunbar and Duncan Taylor, he gets an opportunity."

To accommodate Harris, Glasgow's Huw Jones switches from outside centre - where he has won his 11 caps to date - to inside centre, where he made nine out of 10 starts for Western Province in last year's Currie Cup-winning season.”

This championship there is money to be won

Best id make

Stuart Hogg to score in every game
Adams to score in first game
Parisse to score against England
Sexton to go off for an HIA against France

Broke through at wing but has played 13 from second season onwards. There is no way he’ll be playing at 12.
Camera pans to my living room on Saturday as Harris lines up at IC at every single set piece.

It shouldn’t annoy me, but the WRU are showing the 2010 game before kick off.

Don’t mind being reminded of the loss, but think it’s a bit shite to show the game Thom Evans broke his neck... whilst our team is warming up.

I’m probably just looking for reasons to we wound up in fairness.

Yeah, a bit of a dick move considering Paterson was also hospitalized and lee Byrne dived like he had been shot.

I really hope it sticks in the craw of a few of our players and they smash them

There's a rumour doing the rounds that we have asked for the roof to be open. Cardiff is forecast pissing rain all day.

I hope this isn't true as those conditions will only suit Wales more.

There's also a quote from Toony
No, I asked him what he wanted and then said I’d get back to him, so we’re still to make that decision. I’ll be honest with you, we would like dry conditions, so if it’s dry conditions outside there’s no need to close the roof, if it’s not then let’s close the roof and let’s have a really good game. So we’ve been watching the weather forecasts very closely and we’ll have to make a decision in the next two days to inform them.

Just sort of occurred to me that Blair would have been at Newcastle as Harris was breaking through. He's still involved right?

Anyway, here's this.

I am in wales just now. A day at Caernarfon Castle (where the English send their chosen ones to lord it over the natives) and now staying down the coast off Ceredigion Bay. They are not their usual confident selves, but maybe they’re just being nice.

Anyway, am enjoying a Lagavulin 16 after trying their Penderyn peated. If anyone is coming down here, don’t even try that. It’s rougher than Gladys Pugh.

I’ve tried Penderyn, it’s the kind of whisky you drink with coke and ice. But only if you really, really have to.
