Doping

Post by SerjeantWildgoose »

I can see why they might have to slip the crowd a few shots of Speed to keep them awake, but what the feck sort of advantage does an Olympic curler get from Meldonium?

Have you seen his wife?

It's not the curling that requires the Meldonium produced stamina.

Fair point. He doesn't look entirely thrilled at the prospect of another winter's evening as a slave to Ms Bryzgalova's predatory sexual appetites. He should move aside and let a fat bloke with dodgy knees, halitosis and a hair trigger have a go.

I have to say that is not the look of a man who has just been told to lift her dirty knickers from the bathroom floor!

as a word of explanation, I also play Mixed Doubles curling with my wife in a local league. She also makes me do all the sweeping, but I don't take Meldonium. My drug of choice is six pints of 80 shilling, after which I no longer care about anything more than how often I'm going to have to get up during the night to piss.

When you say get up in the night, do you mean after you have left the ice? I know they've been complaining of the standard of the ice in Pyongchang, but didn't realise it was down to the Jock curlers pissing all over it.

I prefer not to drink more than half a shandy before going on to the ice for fear of what might happen if the wife shouts "Hurry hard!!!! Every inch!!!"

It appears that the Russian curler's B sample came back positive as well, so things aren't going to go well for Russia/IOC relations.

Here's another photo of krushelnitsky and the lovely Anastasia for no reason whatsoever other than I like looking at her.

In other Olympic news, gotta feel for Elise Christie.

She's not just a magnet for the ice, she seems to attract disqualifications at an amazing rate too.

Not only was Sochi a massive disappointment for her, she has managed to get kicked out of every discipline of skating she was competing for in PyeongChang. Must be absolutely demoralising to train so hard only to have it taken away in the way that she has.

I don't particularly follow short track skating, so don't know much about the rules and regulations, but I can't help thinking one or two of the decisions against her were a bit harsh.

Does anyone here follow the sport? Were the decisions just? Was it just bad luck, trying too hard or just the nature of the sport?

She kinda reminds me of Angelina Jolie.

What thoughtful labels they have. "Olympic athlete from Russia". Just in case they get mistaken for a toaster or something.

Now that he’s been caught doping, I think they’re back to being plain old Russia.
