Nigel Melville has been quoted in The Rugby Paper saying there will be Saxons fixtures next season.
It feels a little too late in the 'World Cup Cycle' to be massively worthwhile IMO, but I'm in the mind to think of the future post World Cup given that the shower of $hit we saw yesterday have 0 chance.
Assuming the main squad doesn't change and with the future in mind, I've gone for a 34 man squad:
1. Hepburn (Exeter) / Obano (Bath) / Boyce (Harlequins)
2. Taylor (Wasps) / Singleton (Worcester)
3. Thomas (Bath) / Collier (Harlequins) / Schonert (Worcester)
4. Rowlands (Wasps) / Hill (Exeter)
5. Spencer (Worcester/Leicester) / Skinner (Exeter)
6. Willis (Wasps) / Ludlow (Gloucester) / Polledri (Gloucester)
7. B. Curry (Sale) / T. Curry (Sale)
8. Mercer (Bath)* / Chisholm (Harlequins)
9. Robson (Wasps) Vellacott (Gloucester) / Spencer (Saracens)
10. Smith (Harlequins)** / F. Burns (Bath)
11. Woodburn (Exeter) / Thorley (Gloucester)
12. Mills (Worcester) / S. James (Sale)
13. Marchant (Harlequins) / Trinder (Gloucester)
14. Lewington (London Irish/Saracens) / Ibitoye (Harlequins)
15. Woodward (Gloucester) / Mallinder (Northampton)
*/** I've included these two on the basis of them only being 'apprentice players' for the full squad. If they're promoted for the SA tour, I'd swap in Clifford for Mercer and Joe Simmonds or Malins for Smith.
I've left out some deserving people like Wilson, Armand as I'm hoping they get brought back in to the full squad for SA.
Let's nick Polledri back if we still can.

Really not sure why it isn't happening this season, we have the depth.
considering they took a 27 man tour for 2 games i can't see them increasing it would go for.
1) Obana, Boyce
2) Taylor, Singleton
3) Hill, Schonert
4) Spencer, Skinner
5) Attwood, Ewels,
6) Ewers, Willis
7) Curry,
8) Mercer, Clifford
9) Vellacott, Maunder
10) Smith,
11) Cokanasiga, Ibitoye
12) Devoto, Mills
13) Marchant. Trinder
14) Humphreys,
15) Woodward, Shillcock

We do have the depth. In a way, it gives us too many options.
I forgot Devoto and didn't think of Shillcock or Fiji Joe ...
I deliberately left out Paul Hill though. I'm hoping he gets a new lease of life with Boyd coming in, but right now, he's not close to being worth selection.

Good point with Hill really hope Boyd doesn't bring this TH prop with him.Scrumhead wrote:We do have the depth. In a way, it gives us too many options.

My Saxons squad had 3 scrum halves. He'd never sign off on that either.

Not unless Matt Dawson was your third choice.Scrumhead wrote:My Saxons squad had 3 scrum halves. He'd never sign off on that either.

Too late, Mercer was promoted 6 weeks agoScrumhead wrote: */** I've included these two on the basis of them only being 'apprentice players' for the full squad. If they're promoted for the SA tour, I'd swap in Clifford for Mercer and Joe Simmonds or Malins for Smith.
