Re: Worcester vs Leicester (now not on television)
Not a brilliant game from either side, but Leicester's forwards do still look purposeful and direct in attack - long live Mark Bakewell!
5-12 to Leicester at half time - Holmes with the opener after Veainu beat most of the city of Worcester on a kick return, Wuss back in it with a drive from a lineout and then Bateman scoring another great try taking an offload from Youngs and beating two on the way to the line. New messiah?

When is Genge back? It must be pretty soon?
Right now it would be a genuine selection dilemma for the number 1 shirt with Bateman in such fine form.
Both are dynamic players so whichever way it goes from a starter/bench point of view, it’s a win-win for Leicester.

I’ve just seen Tuilagi scored again. Any good?

1/2 metre pick up and drive but his run beforehand was manuesque. Getting through around 4 Worcester players.Scrumhead wrote:I’ve just seen Tuilagi scored again. Any good?

Thats a pretty emphatic win for Tigers, following up last weeks effort at Saracens.
Fair to say they've turned a corner.

They certainly have!fivepointer wrote: Fair to say they've turned a corner.
Wasps at home is next up in two weeks and Falcons at home to the beleaguered Saints. Securing that 4th place is going to go to the wire and Tigers' home match against Falcons at the end of April could be the decider.

We were flattered a bit by the scoreline, but still a very pleasing win.fivepointer wrote:Thats a pretty emphatic win for Tigers, following up last weeks effort at Saracens.

Manu showed a couple of bursts of his old form to whet the appetite - they're coming more and more frequently with each game. Assuming he can stay fit (7 games and counting), I think there's a big performance coming.

Tigers nearly always finish the season very strongly I guess; it was Cockerill's stock in trade iirc

That Manu burst at the end there was definitely a good sign. First defender went high and it was just ‘see you later, son!’ Really explosive.
Something else that I’m reminded of watching Manu over these last few weeks is his ruck work. If there’s any sort of break or half break and Manu is first in to support, once he hits that ruck it’s pretty much guaranteed quick ball. He’s not getting budged.

True. I noticed that last week against Saracens. Good to see he’s getting there.

We were awful today. Didn't really ever look like scoring.
Didn't help that we played the last 20 with Shilcock at 9 and Willison at 10 after a bad looking injury to Baldwin.
With no Sam Lewis, Hougaard and losing mills early on was a real struggle for us.
Very lucky Irish got nothing at Wasps

Well played tigers! Look like a completely different side to the one we beat at Welfod Road! Toomua is different class and Veianu is ridiculous!

Interesting to see what happens when Ford G is back.

Young Bateman is really pulling up trees now! Apart from scoring tries, he seems to appear everywhere on the pitch, carrying, tackling, acting scrum half at rucks and even a side step or two, or was it a prop's swerve? Are yer watching, Eddie? Get him on the plane to S Africa in the summer!!

Ford - May - Toomua - Tuilagi - A N Other - Veaniu behind a rejuvenated pack will definitely worth a watch.

But he looks to be quite the coach. Turned Leicester's pack round almost immediately whilst Bristol lose their first match of the season.Banquo wrote:Bakewell is no tart

Will Butler made his premiership debut today. Apart from looking a lot younger than anyone else on the pitch he didn't really look out of place. Defended well and had a few nice touches.

Butler had looked like a classy player when I’ve seen him at U20 level. I hope he can translate that to senior rugby.
With him and Ollie Lawrence, Worcester have a very promising centre combination coming through.
