I think they thought I was an Aussie initially and warned me against too many Spingos until I assured them that I was English. I've had it on a few occasions so knew what to expect but it's a long time between drinks living in Oz. Anyway, I got chatting to one of the hardened regulars who even brought his own custom-made pint glass to sessions and we ended up buying rounds. By the time I left I had to leave his in the till.Discreet Hooker wrote:Buggaluggs wrote:Did you then abandon your friend on the moors and bite the chief of police's head off?Parsifal wrote:I called in to one of my all-time favourite pubs, the Blue Anchor in Helston, Cornwall when I was in the UK last Christmas and sank more than a few Spingo Christmas Specials. When I walked in it was like that scene out of An American Werewolf in London when the Yanks drop in to The Slaughtered Lamb. Utterly sensational beer though - like liquefied Christmas pudding in a pint glass.
Were you speaking Ingerlush ?
Btw :# I fking hate Christmas spice ales ! Shoite in a glass .

The Crossways PH
East Huntspill Somerset , A38 , twix Bridgwater & Burnham on Sea . ( B&B available )
Top pub for real ales and good quality food . CAMRA recommended . Always guest ales and enjoyed some Cornish Ales this week . If in the area , better still , with a sober driver , well worth a visit .

'ease up' ipa 4.5%
hoppy/floral - refeshing: 8
'explorer' east coast blonde 5%
light / clean quaff.: 7.5
'ghost-ship' pale ale 4.5%
pleasant but no special note: 7
'lighthouse' light golden ale 3.4%
ok- a few oxidised/sulphur notes: 6.5
'southwold bitter' 4.1%
rich in colour/texture/flavour: 8

The Ghostship Pale was 1 of 2 draught ales on offer at my Sunday pub lunch in deepest Cheschyre this day., cask freshly broached..excellent fresh taste with dry hops to the fore..creamy head bouncing like Babs Windsor's busom tae...tops.
