Re: The Glasgow Beach Rugby Thread
Glasgow are putting them to the sword right now. Clinical stuff. Another touchline score after a strong scrum, a couple of carries... fast ball from Hart to Malcolm who barges over at pace.
36-16 with conversion to come. Beautiful kick this time. 38-16. Probably time for another score if they recover the ball.

Easy to say that in hindsight. I don't think Kellock would have made that call & for his faults as a lock he was a very, very good captain. The one in front of the posts is the one that grinds my gears, the kick we're referring to here was far more difficult.Edinburgh in Exile wrote:Marginal call. I know what you are getting at, but it looks to me like the weeg were trying to kill off any remaining hope that Treviso had. It paid off, but as is always said, it's a result dependent decision.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Glasgow go for touch instead of kicking the points... I know you lot think I'm a party pooper but I genuinely think this is poor decision making. Try or not.
Perhaps it wasn't as kickable as I thought.
Could also be going after a bit of a points difference buffer for the final 4.

Stupid from Russell. Treviso were broken and there was another try no problem.
Christ, that was superb from Mr T and Naka wasn't it? Shame both of them will be elsewhere next season. Naka was looking for the offload with 3-4 tacklers on him and still managed to go to ground and recycle the ball safely. Insane.

"Lamont offside, all that pace means he's too fast for the ball."

Here EinE. That was in front of the posts so if it's all about point difference why not have a go...?

As I said, it's marginal. If the team feels like they have the beating of the oppo, I'd like them to back themselves. Scotland during the dark times kicked nearly every penas we ever got, trying the 3 on offer is a lot of the times the correct call, but sometimes it lacks ambition.
It's too easy to paint confidence as arrogance.

Hogg is smashing it out the park right now.
Back in top4. Another 5 needed against Zebre with tricky Scarlets/Connacht games still to come.

At the risk of jinxing it don't think the Scarlets game is that tricky. They are nothing special and racked up most of their results during & shortly after the RWC which is when they played the 'stronger' teams missing their RWC contingent. After that you've got a bunch of welsh teams in decline and the Italians.ARM wrote:Hogg is smashing it out the park right now.

Glasgow should dispatch them with ease. Connacht will be the tricky one.

Anyone had a look at the run-in? It's going to be a really juicy fight for top 4 for a number of teams. Edinburgh even have a chance if they go on an unlikely win spree!
I suspect Leinster will finish top of the pile followed by either Connacht or Glasgow in 2nd/3rd and Ulster or Scarlets in 4th.

Highlights here.
Mr Hogg is in some form at the moment. How long is he under contract at Glasgow?

Think he has mixed up the team well there. Would be good to see Ashe get a decent stint and probs for Gray to come off reasoably early. 5 points the priority thoughhugh_woatmeigh wrote:15. Glenn Bryce

A little... If you're not going to give the two new props a whirl against the Italians then when?
Plus if he didn't need a second fly half last week why have one this week? Would have liked to see Hogg on the bench to bring on a bit of magic if they needed it.
Otherwise impressive squad. Very, very strong bench with good impact players though.

Sarto got their first try as well! Glasgow do seem to have a habit of giving away early (and cheap) scores. A bit like Scotland...
Based on the twitter feed it sounds like Sarto is a man on a mission.

Naiyaravoro is a fucking monster. He just took about 3 lads with him up the right. Why the scrumhalf, and fullback felt like they needed to jump at him is beyond me.
Glasgow a bit unlucky to have that one chalked off. Right call I guess.

Brilliant from Price.
Zebra were about a yard offside anyway, still great read.

What did you do to get banned for??
That was a really soft yellow card. Seemed like getting blood from a stone trying to get the TMO to look for any afters.

I didn't know that expression also existed in English. In French you often say "Stop being a Jew"
Anyway, Yellow card was deserved in my opinion. Very stupid from MacArthur
