Oh the irony. Nonetheless there remains some chat the vote could be made a vote of confidence, and at some point it'll repeat for real.

Whilst I hardly loved all their policy decisions to see how quickly we've gone from the Conservative and Lib Dem government which I thought a grown up response to some very testing circumstances to this beggars belief

Seems we’ll get another four bank holidays a year. So, it’s not all bad. I suppose they, a Lab govt, wouldn’t actually need to magic up the money for this one, but when a report is released on the same day showing how far behind we lag on productivity it shows they haven’t quite got their finger on the pulse of what the economy requires.

They do have a certain genius for magicking up vote stealing ideas. When we say things like 'they've duped the kids', the kids know its nonsense, but don't care. Anything but May/Tories, basically.

From a coalition government that entailed some give and take with neither side getting everything they want to the mess of Brexit and a possible government headed by Jezza or Boris.

ah, indeed yes. The libdems got an electoral shoeing for their pains at curbing the more extreme side of the Tory party, hardly seems fair.

The DUP (Mrs Foster) say they believe Mr Barnier does not understand the dispute and is "not an honest broker" when it comes to discussion on the border

In return, Mar Barnier says the DUP needs to respect that his role is to negotiate on behalf of the EU and not to act as a mediator.

Luckily the cabinet will today come together with a clear voice setting out a sensible position, on this I have no doubts given the smooth progression elsewhere

another absolutely belting post from Chris Grey

"In effect, the government are playing a game of chicken with three trains – the EU, and the two wings of the Tory Party – or, more accurately, they are forcing our entire country to play such a game. Those trains are now hurtling at high speed towards us, and it hard to see how we can avoid being hit by one or more of them, possibly simultaneously.

It need hardly be said that nothing remotely like this was what voters were told Brexit would mean"

Sounds like everyday government, other than normally one of the trains would be the opposition.

Wasn't there something about trying a new timetable and trains getting cancelled?

Tories have set up a counter group to ERG, Onward, though Onward does have support from the likes of Gove as well as pro Europeans such as Ruth Davidson. Both within in the Tory party and outside the battle is on for what sort of future will we have, one deregulated, something akin to the status quo, or one ramping up the protectionism to supposedly protect us from globilisation.

Essential reading that, unfortunately, will only ever be read by people who already agree with his basic point of view.

If anything is learned from Brexit it should be that referenda are extremely poor at delivering democracy based on informed decisions. Britain's politicians abdicated their responsibilities to the headline writers of Fleet Street.

Brexit Secretary David Davis is proposing a 10-mile (16-km)-wide trade buffer zone along the border that would be in effect for local traders like dairy farmers after the UK leaves the bloc, the newspaper said.

What could possibly go wrong....

Mind you, the story appears to have been broken by The Sun, so it may just be Davis’ department sounding opinion.

Trump's tariffs show getting deals outside the EU remains a piece of piss, maybe not as easy as a deal with the EU 'cause we don't buy much prosseco from the US, but easy nonetheless

15 amendments to be considered in one day, it's clearly sod all to do with returning sovereignty to parliament. Given Brexit the government is basically doing sod all else with many days having nothing going on, literally no votes, so any claim they need to cram this latest into one day doesn't even raise itself to the level of spurious
