7s is a fulltime, specialist sport these days. That's why Sonny Bill is playing 7s right now, and Ben Smith has been ruled out of the Olympics.
indeed.

When would the cut off have been to have moved to the shorter version of the sport for you? I think there's still a chance to drop in a number of players from the bigger version of the sport if the clubs wanted to play along given they are just better players. It wouldn't be ideal, and it should have already happened but I think you could add maybe 4 to 5 players to the wider squad and still get an improved team performance.

I've never given it much thought. But its a different game for sure- Sonny Bill's example sounds about right.

The part-time boxer, part-time league player, part-time rugby player and part-time 7s player?

no idea, prop would be my call.

ed- just looked at a clip and he was wearing 3. Need a bit of help learning the three man scrum stuff, and the other bits and pieces I'd warrant, but he's given himself time. I loved playing sevens, but not so great to watch for me.

I can still recall Flats sat in a studio as the analyst back when Williams played for Toulon ruefully shaking his head and pondering on how easy it must be to play rugby if that size, that fast and that skillful. I'd say prop in 7s, but maybe centre depending on his contact skills/decisions

If he runs off to his mum after an embarrassing defeat maybe. Although I'd still have more respect for Burgess than Williams owing to some of Mundine's comments and Williams' failure to either condemn or distance himself.

Lost me there, I know about Mundine's comments, but what did SBW do?

Failed to condemn or distance himself. I'd accept one might still be friends with someone you might strongly disagree with on some subjects, cricket Mundine is out there at times. Great image for AIG though

Rather than 'cricket' I'd meant to type 'but crickey' and I don't even think that's come about by an auto-correct.

And in further evidence of this, Australia have said they aren't going to select Quade Cooper due to a lack of training time with the squad.

And they couldn't work out how to hide him in defence.

sweeper? but he'd still have to come up in their own half. Plus you have to be handy over the ball generally.

Indeed. Not an easy one to sort out, though he was pushing it on the time front.
