Ruck marks for the 2nd test

Post by Raggs »

Ruck marks for those that are interested. The introduction of counting lineouts absolutely blew Itoje's score up massively, huge amount of work by the lock.

Shields non-try should have been a penalty try and a yellow to Motsert I reckon, 20-19 at around 59m, and a lock down, is a very different game indeed.

It's bit across on the attacking rucks page, I should put it on the scores one.

Wait, Farrell didn't run a single metre ball in hand?

Might not be the best place for this question but you lot know your stats. How does number of carries and metres carried work? If I take the ball a couple of steps then pass I presume I get neither but what if I make a break (or a half break) and then pass before contact?

espn is gainline for meters, not sure about carries vs passes, or if you can carry and then pass. Kick returns obviously get plenty of free meters.

Curry had a good game from that, as did Itoje. Nice work Raggs.

Are there any stat sites that have a metres lost in the tackle or passive tackle etc?

Those front row numbers aren't great. Can really undo the balance of a forward pack if the front row isn't doing their primary job around the park. Vunipola and Sinckler are alright carrier's but not to the extent where the rest of the team is making up their missed rucks just so they can flop to the floor one metre behind the gainline.

Front row scores are always lower than everyone else. They look very low because all the numbers are lower, due to the nature of the game, but there's nothing particularly special about them in my mind. Starting front row know they've got 60 minutes to get through, they're massively built shortarses, and when a game is open and requires lots of running around, they often don't have much puff for anything else.

I do agree that it would be nice to see more from them, but they are good players, who can put in much better performances as starting individuals, which once again brings me to the hope that it's fatigue.
