Exactly what Puja said.
I thought about the ‘trust’ element. We could always just share our squads for that game (after it’s too late to change on the first game day). Although TBH it would be pretty sad to have to cheat to win a league with no prize.

Considering I failed to complete the season last time, I'm not sure why I'm even considering it :pScrumhead wrote:Exactly what Puja said.

Good point - I don't know I'd have the energy to manage two teams, especially since my work have blocked the fantasy rugby website and I can only access it via phone.Stom wrote:Considering I failed to complete the season last time, I'm not sure why I'm even considering it :pScrumhead wrote:Exactly what Puja said.

I thought he'd be cheap. 150k. Why? Its looking really hard to build a team this time round.Stom wrote:And here I am waiting for Jonas Mikalcius...Shiny wrote:I'm waiting for the Super Rugby to finish so that Taqele Naiyaravoro can be added to the pool of available players.

The guy running it probably scans the message boards to see who is waiting for which player, and then doubles their price.Stom wrote:I thought he'd be cheap. 150k. Why? Re: The Rugby Magazine - Fantasy Rugby
I understand wanting to get rid of those cheap players who everyone buys, but I feel there should still be a few bargains who you would only know are quality if you have a little bit more knowledge. I mean, Mikalcius has played no senior top flight rugby. His 150k price is entirely based on 2 seasons scoring tries for Hartbury in the 3rd tier. Sure, they were a hell of a lot of tries, but it was the 3rd tier.Mellsblue wrote:The guy running it probably scans the message boards to see who is waiting for which player, and then doubles their price.Stom wrote:I thought he'd be cheap. 150k. Yep - 100% agree.
I was looking at Gabriel Ibitoye and Adam Radwan and at £178k and £163k, I’d say they’re very expensive relative to their experience in senior rugby.

Re: The Rugby Magazine - Fantasy Rugby
Finally got a sensible squad together, although it'll possibly change depending on the opening weekend lineups - I'm torn between Zhvania and Rapava-Ruskin for instance and I can only have one, so it'll come down to which of them is closest to starting first weekend.
It was very hard to get in under budget though - my first attempt at picking left me out of money before I'd got to the centres! I tried again and thought I'd cracked it only to realise I had no scrum-halves and it'd cost £700k to get 3 that would trouble their teams' starting XVs. There's fewer gimmes this year and some players who I'd assumed would be cheap because they required some in depth knowledge of the game to even have heard of (Lasike and McConnochie being the key examples) are well over £200k. Still, don't mind a challenge.

I'm all set but I did struggle getting under the cap. I feel as if my backs are okay but i'm only a prop injury or two away from not being able to field a team.

Definitely more challenging this season on the pricing.
I don’t mind Lasike being over £200k given he is a current international. McConnichie is definitely too expensive though IMO.

With the first teams announced, now is the time to start finalising those squads. I'm going to hold onto some cash for now and only bulk up the squad when I need to/when the players I want are back from injury.

Some ridiculous scrambling taking place as the teams are announced!
Also just realised I don't have any specialist centres...

Scrambling done
.
28 players signed, fairly happy with the team, a couple of stars, a couple of gambles, and just over $1m in the bank to top things up if/when needed.

Pretty much just redid my team on realising I had no starting hookers, one lock and no fullback. Think that as it's a world cup year it might be harder as teams look to rotate more.

I’m not sure if I even have enough money left for a halftime burger.Raggs wrote:Scrambling done.

Unfortunately one of my favourite players last season has been downgraded. Hougaard used to be both SH and Winger, and was an easy way to get a consistent winger scoring reasonably high.

I’ve done exactly the same. 28 signed and £900k in the bank.Raggs wrote:Scrambling done.

A 33 man squad and just £276k in the bank, which is already earmarked for a third scrum-half the moment that one of Robson or Spencer is rested. I'm leery about keeping money in the bank - most prices went nothing but up last year.

I'm glad; I couldn't do that myself as it made me twitch. I try to pick a loosehead and a tighthead in the right positions, let alone putting a scrum-half on the wing.Raggs wrote:Unfortunately one of my favourite players last season has been downgraded. I had no problems putting Khan at 10, Hougaard at 11, Robson at 9, May in the centres etc etc

You played to the rules and clearly did very well ...
Every time I played Woodburn as a centre I had a nervous twitch.
