To be fair, my bench has three wingers on it.
I’m hoping Roko repays my faith in him after an anonymous performance last week.

I wouldn’t give up in round 2!
After last night, my hopes of a good week are dependent on a few gambles paying off and some other players justifying a second chance (Roko for example).

Similar for me scrumhead, hoping Manu has a bit more impact if Eastmond is putting him onto the ball.

My hope is on my new signing and captain Sione Vailanu justifying my faith in him as a flat track bully and doing well against Bristol 2s.

Made the same signing for the same reason yesterday
. Released Collins too, tohught process being he'll lose out to the monster they've bought in. Made $1k on him.

I’m similar. Mako’s Captain but I signed Vailanu for the same reason.Puja wrote:My hope is on my new signing and captain Sione Vailanu justifying my faith in him as a flat track bully and doing well against Bristol 2s.

Sam Simmons is my captain. Can’t complain.

I took the safe choice in launch.Shiny wrote:Sam Simmons is my captain. Can’t complain.
Things looking good this week, though, with Simmonds, Takalua, May and Lewington all on the scoreboard

Yup, Simmonds as captain as well as Goneva and Banahan playing. No one playing tomorrow though.Stom wrote:I took the safe choice in launch.Shiny wrote:Sam Simmons is my captain. Can’t complain.

Simmonds was my captain last week, so that's carried over and been ok. A couple of my starters were on the bench, and one didn't play at all. Frustrating as I could have covered it, but it's actually not the worst week

Re: The Rugby Magazine - Fantasy Rugby
So far my gambles haven’t paid off. Vailanu was a cheap signing but costly in terms of missed points. My expectation was that he would rack up a chunk of points but I’d actually have been better off sticking with the less exciting but very reliable Lewis Ludlow.
That was compounded by another couple of single digit performances from usually reliable starters (Marchant and Skinner).
I’m hoping Ryan Mills and Sam Lewis continue their form from last week and the Sale players on the bench can do better than single digits.

5 minutes before deadline, I thought to myself, "I'll just check my team to make sure there's no late withdrawals." Very glad I did - Rapava-Ruskin was starting and captain for me before that and swapping captain to Polledri turned out to be a good choice.
I've been rubbish so far this season and every choice I make has been wrong, so I needed a little bit of luck.

I caught that one with 5 minutes to go as well. Tonight’s game has given me a massive 26 points so far this week. It’s gonna be a long weekend.Puja wrote:5 minutes before deadline, I thought to myself, "I'll just check my team to make sure there's no late withdrawals." Okay, who is Neanderthals? I'm looking at teams and they have put Armand in at 5 and Ribbans in at 6, purely and simply to hurt me.

That’s Raggs.
I feel slightly dirty about it, but I’m playing Armand at lock. Mainly because Skinner is injured ...

I have Luatua at lock. He got 18 points last night. That's fine.

I always play Armand at lock, lets me get 2 more flankers and a no 8 onto the field as well.

Depends ... the right choices at lock quite often outscore flankers.

They can do. But it depends who they are and who they're playing againstScrumhead wrote:Depends ... the right choices at lock quite often outscore flankers.

Was a tough choice between Luatua and Spencer, tbh. And, if we're being honest, his numbers are a little lower than I would have hoped.

You say that, but then because defensive stats are collected as well, locks on the losing side with a high work rate and decent lineout stats will often pick up 20+ points.
As a mega geek, I’ve done lots of analysis on the stats and I try to pick my squads Moneyball style
I’m currently working on a spreadsheet that tracks my year on year performance and I’m going to try to create a predictive model to select my best squad every week.

Well yeah. Was hoping Luatua would get through more work than he did...Scrumhead wrote:You say that, but then because defensive stats are collected as well, locks on the losing side with a high work rate and decent lineout stats will often pick up 20+ points.

Re: The Rugby Magazine - Fantasy Rugby
Sam Simmonds my captain and Matt Kvesic late withdrawals. Luck just follows me around at the moment, I dare not go for a wee at the moment, it would come off in my hand.
