Epic match day

Post by Lizard »

So Mrs Liz is out of town, so I’m seeing how many games I can keep an eye on while solo dadding.

I can’t find a stream for Ulster v Uruguay so first up, Black Ferns v France Ladies XV. 0-0 after 33 minutes!

I am very jealous. You've certainly got a good day for it; I suspect that if you could find the streams, you could find rugby for every minute until Ireland vs Argentina finishes at around 8pm (GMT) tonight. Although you would have to go a bit Rowan and watch things like Russia vs Namibia to fill some of the gaps.

He’s just posted the first three posts on a thread he set up. He’s already gone a bit Rowan.

I've found Russia v Namibia on YouTube. Russian commentators make more sense than Barnes & co.

Seems that yer Afrikaaner doesn’t like playing in Siberia. Russia score twice in the first 5 minutes or so of the 2nd half. 33-6. Probably safe to have a power nap before Georgia v Italy.

Can’t find a stream for Wales v SA women.

Russia is walking away with it. Namibia are truly shit. 47-13.

Romania are 17-3 up in their relegation match with Portugal (stream at www.rugbyeurope.eu)

I’m just jealous. I’m spending the day in Preston researching the effects of transport infrastructure development on the city’s architectural heritage. I sh!t you not. The first 20mins of ‘research’ was finding a pub that was showing the match.

Wait until he starts posting about the Tajikistani 3rd-grade domestic league, while claiming expertise and superior knowledge on topics to people who actually know better.

Liz hasn't lectured me on Imperial Chinese history or explain to me what the coach and captain of the Japanese football team told the Japanese press in Japanese after a football game though. You'd expect him to do that every other day, so obviously his standards are slipping.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I had to go into lockdown having missed Italy v Georgia live.

So Romania v Portugal was a foregone conclusion before the land of Nod hit. Up at 4AM to watch England blow a gold-plated chance to make history by only having one line out call. Then I watched Georgia ensure they will stay off the top table for another rugby generation at least.

Once Scotland had pulled ahead of Fiji I had to do a bit of fast forwarding and eventually caught up to Wales v Aust live about 20 minutes in. Great result but 9-6? Are you shitting me?

Then I hit play on Ireland v Pumas, with France v SA live on screen 2, until the latter became more interesting so I paused the Irish match until the bloody Saffers stole it.

Finally, I wrapped up with Brazil v Māori which I thought would be 60+ spanking but was actually a relatively close and entertaining match.

USA v Samoa didn’t seem to be screened here, which is surprising given the Samoan support base.

What was Italy v Georgia like? Were they both good or was it two bald men fighting over a comb?

It wasn't great. My abiding memory is the Italian 12 burning two dead cert try-scoring opportunities. The first, he received a pass with a completely open run, maybe 20-25m to the corner flag. The nearest defender was 3 or 4 metres infield and would have had no chance. Instead this genius headed towards the goalposts, straight into said defender. The second one, the break had been made, 12 was carrying the ball in to a classic, schoolboy training run-style 2 on 1, but chose not to pass to the completely unmarked guy outside and just run full on into the defender instead.

I think that Georgia just doesn't have enough experience playing teams of a higher standard.
