I just feel that if your forwards aren’t sorting it - and it became a consistent problem - you’d think that the captain would get his lineout leaders together and try and solve it. He may have tried to but if he did I didn’t see it. It’s a bit like suggesting a cricket captain shouldn’t help set fields with bowlers, but rather just decide on referrals and his own batting. As captain you are ultimately responsible for what happens on the field, if one facet is going completely awry you’d think the captain would at least try and help solve it by pointing out that doing the same thing repeatedly is working. Most of the blame falls on whoever was calling the lineout - Kruis and then Itoje, I think - but Farrell must shoulder some of the blame by not demanding a change of tactics.
