For about a year now TBH. He also seems to improve every single year, with barely any bad patches.Stom wrote:BTW, I do think Farrell had started to become a pretty good international 12. It really negates the things he can't do and accentuates his positives.
Given that, and 6 years to develop, he's become a competent international FH and a decent international IC.

Agreed. MoM ahead of Itoje.p/d wrote:Once we had sorted out the back row I thought Lawes had a stormer
So, what will Jones conclude?
None of George, Hepburn, Williams, Ford to get a starting spot?
Lozowski might have played himself out of the squad.
Daly under the high ball is an accident waiting to happen.
Beyond that, we won the 2nd half having lost the first. Farrell will play every minute of the RWC.

Moon & Sinkler real bonuses in last few weeks.Faz is IC first, FH second.Daly isnae FB, nor Nowell a centre.JR can score tries apart from lead - work on his fitness!

Re: Team for Japan
That may have been Nowell losing his WC spot... If Brown can get back in.
I think I'd be heading towards Watson, Daly, May, Brown, Cokanasiga. The big man was good today.
That would allow us both of Tuilagi and Joseph, too.
But Loz being poor doesn't give us many options at IC.

Re: Team for Japan
Hats off to Japan. They were excellent. Really enjoyed their bright, intelligent and skilful play.
England had to work hard to turn the game around after a poor 1st half.
Lawes and Itoje good up front, Cokanasiga first class on debut. A few performances below par.
And now with tin hat on I have to say i thought Farrell did add something. He does seem to energise the team. and did put in some decent touches.

George’s yellow was dumb, but other than that I thought he was fairly good. He played a big part in two tries, but I think he showed that his style of play is better suited to coming off the bench.

Watching a bit of the Wales match before ours started, it made me wonder how many SHs they have got better than any of ours.

Re: Team for Japan
I would prefer him starting with Dylan off the bench. I know who I would want on 78 minutes for a line out 5 meters from their try line to win the match. Also Dylan to rein in any Farrell last minute silly decisions.Scrumhead wrote:George’s yellow was dumb, but other than that I thought he was fairly good. Yes, it may be that it is not just Jones and punditry tthat disagree with our opinion of Farrell. It may be his fellow players too.fivepointer wrote:Hats off to Japan. They were excellent. Really enjoyed their bright, intelligent and skilful play.

I'd rather Jones looked at Taylor or LCD. I think Hartley will start in all important matches.Shiny wrote:I would prefer him starting with Dylan off the bench. What a ridiculous yellow card for WLR - especially in the context of Banahan's one-handed interception last week.

SA made hard work of closing that one out.
6 points up and a few minutes left on the clock and they refused to take a drop goal when in excellent positions.

He was blamed by everyone around me, too. He was also blamed for a Care missed tackle for their second. When Ford lined up for the first con the chap next to me told his girlfriend - she’ll end it shortly if she’s any sense, he was a prize plonker - that he was a 50/50 chance to kick it whilst Farrell never misses.Tigersman wrote:Poor Ford gets blamed for a tackle he was 20m away from.

The prawn sandwich brigade sure know their rugby.
I expect most agree with what Stephen Jones tells them in his write ups and ratings.

Irish well deserved win over nz even if there was a stonewall yellow card missed (another weird ref decision, it just keeps coming).

Looked a stone cold yellow to me. He's not tried to catch it, he's just batted it away from himself and the Scottish playerOakboy wrote:What a ridiculous yellow card for WLR - especially in the context of Banahan's one-handed interception last week.

NZ try-less,pointless in 2nd H..most rare.
Committed showing by a well-drilled All-Greens,
( is it 'Farrell-day' ?) end of season disappointment for AB's overseen by their favourite official.
Quite an even contest - the rest are getting closer it would seem.
Ireland - New Zealand
Possession 52-48
Territory 53-47
Passes 198-196
Runs 151-162
Defenders beaten 20-20
Turnovers conceded 13-16
