Looks like it was 13 Japanese up front. The kick was a crossfield kick, bounced in the 5m channel, and somehow bounced backwards and out. A kinder bounce could have seen Coka get it, or the Japanese player being forced to take it into touch, at the very least, under heavy pressure from Joe.

It also looks like it was precalled.

so, in Ford's defense, we have 3 guys on the ground and he might have received slow ball from the breakdown............... though it does look as if Ashton & Daly are geared up for a move
If it was slowed it wasn’t much and at worst 3 of the last 4 plays had good outcomes. We were going forwards

Kicking the ball away like that is what used to encourage me to refuse to pass to the 10, resulting in arguments with more than one coach. Either we're there to play some rugby or not, and a wise man once said you've got to want it

It really wasn't a bad kick, but how we set about using space and being able to support, or actually our refusal to engage in trying in tactics and selection is specifically what I have a problem with

There's more sense to that kick if you're leading and into the final quarter looking to reduce risk. But for as long as the game is open if we don't take on risk we will struggle to create chances outside 1st phase set moves

I'm with you on this one Diggers. Part of Ford's game on the int stage that frustrates is his regular use of the boot.............. many a discussion with Beefeater over the same thing regards JW

Once upon a team Jonny ran the ball far too much. Andrew and Woodward went to work on that and rather over corrected. However in mitigation Jonny had one of the great packs of all time, and that does make it possible to reduce risk and still create sufficient chances to win
