Burger's Last Match
...against Falcons.
I will be sorry to see him go, I hope he has a good life in his beloved Namibia.

Absolute top player and one who gave his heart and soul for every side he played for. Odd timing though - do you know why he's not staying till the end of the season?

Maybe his knees will take so long to overcome a game he's got one game left in him, and that well down on what he was. He's had a brilliant career though

A guy you definitely want on your side. Die in a ditch for his team...deserves to enjoy his retirement.

Great player, seems like a great bloke and very little not to like about him.
Good luck in the next phase Mr Burger, it's been a pleasure

You can't help but admire the man. A player who you hated when playing for the oppo but would love on your team. I hope he goes out with a win and enjoys retirement.

Re: Burger's Last Match
It's probably marketing as much as anything, last guaranteed home game so they can have a bit of ceremony to it. Also I'd have been astonished if he was in the 23 for the knock out games given the other players available and the fact he's only just back from another injury layoff.Puja wrote:Absolute top player and one who gave his heart and soul for every side he played for. In any event teams:
Saracens
15 Ben Ransom (65)
14 Chris Ashton (94)
13 Marcelo Bosch (62)
12 Brad Barritt (c) (167)
11 Chris Wyles (203)
10 Charlie Hodgson (126)
9 Neil De Kock (254)
1 Richard Barrington (77)
2 Jared Saunders (35)
3 Titi Lamositele (20)
4 Maro Itoje (48)
5 Jim Hamilton (43)
6 Michael Rhodes (23)
7 Jacques Burger (113)
8 Jackson Wray (138)
Replacements
16 Schalk Brits (167)
17 Mako Vunipola (96)
18 Juan Figallo (29)
19 Hayden Smith (63)
20 Kelly Brown (128)
21 Richard Wigglesworth (150)
22 Nils Mordt (59)
23 Nick Tompkins (33)
Falcons
15 Simon Hammersley
14 Alex Tait
13 Chris Harris
12 Adam Powell
11 Marcus Watson
10 Craig Willis
9 Michael Young
1 Rob Vickers
2 George McGuigan
3 Taione Vea
4 Mouritz Botha
5 Sean Robinson
6 Will Welch (captain)
7 Dan Temm
8 Mark Wilson
Replacements
16 Rob Hawkins
17 Alex Rogers
18 Andrew Foster
19 Calum Green
20 Richard Mayhew
21 Ruki Tipuna
22 Tom Catterick
23 Tom Penny
Presumably some financial reasons for the Falcons team, apparently 22 of 23 EQP (10 Academy graduates). Haven't seen any EQP percentage figures for the season but guessing they might be trying to make up some ground for the RFU payment.

Re: Burger's Last Match
They're getting creative with the definition of English to claim 22 of those. I'm assuming odd man out is Vea, and not Mayhew, Tipuna or Temm.Guwuffle wrote: Falcons

Re: Burger's Last Match
He says that he is in a lot of discomfort after a match as his knees are completely shot and he is now picking up new injuries. He wants to retain a decent level of mobility so that he can participate in activities with his two small children as they grow up, he also said that he had a duty to them to stay fit enough to care for them.Puja wrote:Absolute top player and one who gave his heart and soul for every side he played for. Re: Burger's Last Match
Does reading "Lateral kneecap release" give anyone else a strange, uncomfortable feeling?
