How many of the current half backs were aspiring footballers, but at a tender age were told they had no chance.

In general any kid with that skill set, black or white, would dream of being a pro footballer.

Possibly quite ingrained. I have Kiwi relatives and colleagues who are adamant that ‘you need to let the Maoris and the Islanders run riot but have Europeans anywhere a decision needs to be made.’ These are both young and old folks too. Almost makes up for the fuckwittery at the RFU but not enough.

I would suggest that these relatives and colleagues get back in their time machines and get on back to 1900. BTW, not having a go at you but using the definite article when referring to race in Maori is a no-no (it's incorrect in Maori). Using it for "Islanders" is arguably pretty rank too.

Why would anyone want to earn more in a week than rugby pays in a year?
