Ah, that makes sense. Didn’t know there was an otherwise. Would we have to name our sevens team as our official development/ second team to make it count, or have World rugby scrapped all that bollocks after that welsh bloke we tried to cap? Did anyone’s head roll because of that? Am guessing no, and that he probably just had to get a round of shots in at the Roseburn.
Sevens count anyway. I assume the non existent A side is still the 2nd team for Scotland.

Off to a good start in Kapstad. Pure battered Canadia 22-14.

Playing wales at 11.36 next. Win and we should be through as they lost their opener to Australia.

2017 was 3 QFs finishing 6th, 4th and 3rd (if I've worked it out correctly) in that order. Finished 7th over all that year.

Poor decisions are ingrained in Scottish Rugby.

And threw that one away too.

Scott Johnson is in Cape Town though - hopefully he’ll give the lads a few pointers.

Have just seen we’re on now. Always manage to get the day wrong when it’s in New Zealand.

Anyway, we opened the day with a win v France. South Africa beat Kenya in the other game in our group. If you’re still up at 48 minutes past midnight, we are playing Kenya then. Win and we’re through to the big cup again.

Playing series-topping USA at 23.42. On sky sports action or something I think.

That’s not bad! Here’s to repeating the qualification and going even further!

Thought we were a bit slow out the blocks v USA and failed to deal with their tactic of kicking to our smallest bloke at kick off whilst putting one of their biggest guys in to compete with him. We weddd up just waving our hands at it and getting flattened. Even if we had knocked it back, they had men coming through.

Thought we also kinda shat it a bit defensively about Carlin Isles getting the ball in space, but who doesn’t?

Utterly dreadful. Total domination of territory & posession plus two sin bin advantages.....& still spent most of the game going backwards or sideways. Usually to retrieve a loose pass from a static team mate.

Best draw in ages with a route to the semi finals a possibility & we f**k it up out of the gate.

HK 7s today, and we’re first up v Samoa at 10:42 Edinburgh Mean Time. Would be good to breath them and get out of our pool in the top 2, as it would give us a chance of catching them in the overall standings. Other teams in our pool are Japan and SA.

If we get out into the big cup, it’s one of usa, england, Wales or Spain.

Gutted for the lassies. Lost to Brazil in the final - had they won it would have been core status next year. Hopefully they can learn from their season and kick on next year.
