Down to 3 now..
Wal could get the GS & TC next weekend and stop Eng taking the big 6N prize on points difference.

That’s not quite right. If you win the GS, you get extra BPs so it’s impossible not to win overall.
We need Ireland to do us a favour otherwise Wales would be the worst team to win a GS since our last one.

Quite right SH - this has been covered in the 6N BP rules:Scrumhead wrote:That’s not quite right. If you win the GS, you get extra BPs so it’s impossible not to win overall.

'A Union that wins all five of its Matches (a “Grand Slam”) shall be awarded a further three Match Points.'
that I failed to notice on first check.
I somehow can't see Ire delivering this favour, though Eng should run out top points and try scorer this year, comfortably.

This Wales side is pretty poor IMO. Fair play to them for a strong second half and taking their chances against us, but I’d credit even an out of form Irish side with the tactical awareness to beat them next weekend.

Re: 6N Dynamic Attrition Table_19
Wales are excellent in defence and kick reception; they also show they can retain the ball for many phases. I don't think pretty poor is fair, even if they aren't pretty! Their unbeaten run has a lot of good scalps in it. I do think a fit and firing Irish side should be winning, though the Cardiff factor is significant too.Scrumhead wrote:This Wales side is pretty poor IMO. They have a lot of middling players, who manage to produce telling contributions, and the side are generally good under pressure. We could do with some of that

Re: 6N Dynamic Attrition Table_19
The schedule next Sat works in Eng's favour a little -
if Ire win they still have an outside chance of the title.
If Eng had gone earlier or even concurrently then Ire may have possibly not gone full tilt.
Schmidt & Best say farewell to the 6N so this will add something.
Parisse also will give his last 6N showing in Rome.Irrespective of the outcome vs Fra, his team have claimed another wooden spoon.

Re: 6N Dynamic Attrition Table_19
I don't see a universe in which Ireland don't do their utmost to win the game once it kicks off. I wouldn't however be at all surprised to see a couple of selections that smack of trying out options. For the game itself England are so far ahead on points difference there's not any point on chasing it. We'll do no more than what we would have done anyway: try to get ahead and then as far away as we can by 80 minutes.Galfon wrote:The schedule next Sat works in Eng's favour a little -

The title is a two horse race. With respect to Ireland, a hell of a lot needs to go their way to be in with a chance, both in their own game and in the Calcutta Cup. I fully expect Ireland to come at us 100%, why would they not? There may be one or two selection decisions made with the RWC in mind but I can’t see too many of those either.

Can I mock this post now? Or should I wait till the sting of grabbing an undeserved draw at the last second against Scotland has dulled a little?Scrumhead wrote:This Wales side is pretty poor IMO.
