It's all about Ball Watching

Post by Digby »

As things stand it seems teams have either switched now to watching the ball in defence, or will be switching to watching the ball in defence when the incumbent coach gets fired for being out of date. Gone are the days, for now at least, of watching your man

What opportunities does this present to attack for overloading channels? Or indeed what other options do people see working against a defence that will close areas with pre-ordained spacings?

Seeing as this is already proving so popular for anyone coaching this how does it work for man 2 outwards in practice?

Man 1 (or guard or pillar) even under a system where players watch the man will be focused in and on the ball one would presume? Is it then all about spacings if the system starts with looking at the ball? Or is there a split further out by Man 3 or Man 4?
