Just physically dominating us now. We were playing smart in the first half and running them around, but we've really taken our foot off the gas and we're just getting battered by bigger men now

No, they look almost unplayable when they're really on top. We need to try and keep up a high tempo wide game for as long as possible next week. Have a feeling Dylan will be back.

bit of a contradiction there! High tempo wide game + (Dylan x out for ages)
Kvesic has really developed into having a fantastic all-court game, I can't see what Eddie could not like about him. (Apart from him not being from the southern hemisphere)

Seems like bad timing with injuries etc. It's curry's place to lose but he should be in the picture at least.

He's always been really good tbh, its been an odd career in many ways- still only 27 though. He's a lot better openside than many who have been in the shirt 2012-2018 ish. Not sure injuries explain it.
The shape/balance of Exeter's back row effectively rules Kvesic out of Jones's thinking, I suspect. He's had his best season for years playing at 8 but ne's not the sort of 8 that Jones appears to want - Billy V, Hughes and Wilson are apparently his order of merit. Simmonds is the type of 8 that Baxter wants and Kvesic has been an able deputy in the shirt.
Kvesic at 7? Who knows? Where's the current competitive evidence? Jones has Curry, Underwood and Wilson ahead of him based on his selections.
Much as I feel sory for Kvesic (and disappointed in him until this season) my biggest back row concern is that Wilson's versatility might not give him the starting 6 shirt.

don't think so tbh, though I haven't studied the timelines of when Burt stopped picking him. He mysteriously fell out of favour at Glaws, and took a fair while to start regularly at Chiefs when he wasn't crocked.

Kvesic plays the 'role of a 7' just packs down at 8, playing with two carrying flankers alongside. The competitive evidence was Twitchy stats post.

Fair point but I still say that Jones won't change his view on back row selection. He might be right or wrong but he's definitely stubborn. He wants a lump at 8 in a conventional big-is-best role. I suppose we should be grateful he's come around to liking Curry at 7.
Jones obviously doesn’t fancy him. It might be his southern European heritage, rather than Southern Hemisphere heritage, or it might be that Diggers is championing him. Might be both. It might be that his stats in Europe aren’t too good. It’s another chin scratcher. Has he ever been in a training squad? In the back of my mind he was in at least one at the start of Jones’s tenure, perhaps he blotted his copy book then.
What a ramble. Best I can manage on a Sunday morning.

Vunipola is somewhat more than a big is best 8. you have championed Hughes, and Wilson was the fall back 8. Jones has changed how he selects the back row markedly- albeit forced a bit. He may not change his view, if he has one, on Kvesic.

If this is the way a system works I hope we're all willing to support a Jonathan Davies for Georgia campaign, just thinking back to how he mangled a name as simple as Jauzion elicits a smile
