Pretty much no point in picking players likely to make their countries’ RWC squads.

TBH, I typically only have a few internationals in my squad. My biggest scorers are either yet to be picked or currently being ignored (Reinach for example).

So frustrating to have Lewington in my squad but to have dropped him this week for being pretty crap in a points scoring sense up to now.

Another boringly average week for me this week. If our league was the same as the premiership I would be a strong 8th place again.

Yep. He’s not been the points machine I was expecting him to be. I only picked him yesterday because all of my other wingers were injured/not selected, so it was definitely more luck than judgement.

Outside of the game, Lewington hasn’t really been a hit at Sarries. I thought he was going to be on the end of all of their moves, but he seems to be struggling in their team structure and is behind Maitland and Strettle who fit the system much better.

And once again, I have forgotten that the game finishes before the playoffs, meaning all that tailoring towards Saracens and Exeter I've been doing has been wasted. Bugger.

Lol. I only have more than 1 Exe player because I've been buying their cheap squad players in recent weeks as they're getting gametime :p

2 Exe, 1 Sarries.

This year the game includes the playoffs.

https://therugbymagazine.com/fantasy/pr ... -transfers

Our fantasy games continue through the playoffs for each of the competitions we are running this season, and in order for everyone to maintain their squads through this period, we've made a few tweaks to the transfer and player limits...

While the regular season runs with 28 players as the minimum requirement for your squad, through the playoffs, this is additionally a maximum requirement. We've set this up like this to ensure that you will require some discretion in who to choose for your squad, and hopefully avoid everyone having the same players. The quality of the players you will be able to sign will largely depend on how much money you have been able to make with your squad over the course of the regular season. That said, we're not expecting people to have too many problems.

Throughout the playoffs, all transfers are free, and there is no maximum. With the availability of players ever dwindling through this period, it was important to us that you all had flexibility, and no stragglers left in your squad.

The quarter-final stage of Super Rugby will retain the same 5 player per team rule that has been in place through the regular season, and this competition along with the Premiership will be subject to a 7 player per team limit for the semi finals, and then a 14 player limit for the final.

This will obviously leave 5 players left over who are not playing, given the squad minimum of 28 players, but given that this is one of the core rules of the game, we're not keen on removing it even at this stage. That said, this is the first time that the game will run through the playoffs, and we'll be on the lookout for any lessons to be learnt.

Forgetting the addition of the play-offs, my aim this season was 10,000 points and top 50.

I’m on 9,785 and in 31st, so barring an absolute implosion from all of my players, I should achieve both.

Still 367 points short of the leader, but when you consider that’s over 21 rounds, an average of 18 points more per week would have put me in 1st. Shows how important those marginal decisions and choice of captain are!

Oh, that's good. Free transfers though, so it's basically a new game. Although those who've invested well in talent that's increased will have a higher budget, so that's fun.

Yeah - I thought the same. It’s a good way of rewarding players who have done well with transfers.

So I can sell pretty much all of my 39 players for the start of the playoffs and sign from the teams in the top 4? Hope so as I've been selling Exeter and sarries players in recent weeks in the belief that the playoffs weren't included.

450 for me this week. Not too bad really. If our table was the premiership I have missed European qualification again.

Whereas I've sneaked into the playoffs last minute like Northampton, with just a 4 point margin. I've changed my mind - I don't want to score the playoffs as I'm happy where I am!

Well I’ve won the regular season in the Rugby Rebels Premiership. Results wise, I’m the Exeter Chiefs of our league, but I’d like to think my team plays more attractive rugby!

All bests are off for the play-offs though ...

I’m not sure if it’s a stand-alone game or all part of the main thing?

It looks like it seems to be part of the main thing. With no penalty for changing players now I’ve just had a go at selecting my squad for next week. It’s not as easy as it looks picking 7 players from each of the 4 teams with an 8 million budget.

How would people feel about running our own unofficial set of playoffs? We could do same style as Prem - so 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3, or we could broaden it and have top 8 with two pools of four to see who qualifies for the final?

Yeah I’m up for that. I haven’t seen a few of the top 8 in our league post in a while though, so it might be easier to do a mini competition between those of us that will actually know about it!

What are the team names for that lot then? I'll organise the pools if I can work out who's who.
