Is he legitimately just not as good as Steyn? Out of form? Unfit? Deserving of a place in the Scotland squad at all?

Seems like he’s been our most consistent attacking alongside Hogg/Russell. It seem strange the idea of going into the World Cup without his place assured, though I’m happy to see what Hutchinson can do if Jones isn’t demanding the 13 slot.

Its certainly hard to justify his spot considering Steyn is keeping him out the weegie team. That doesn't stop toonie selecting players he like though.

I think it's just a matter of consistency, recent form & Rennie's preferences. Jones has a far, far, far higher performance ceiling than Steyn.

Rennie has got Glasgow playing a pressure based game now - all about building up the phases and waiting for the opportunities to arise.

Jones suits Finn better in the sense that he's good at getting on the end of those Hail Mary style plays that either make or break a game. I don't think Glasgow have got their moneys worth from Jones at all. He's a far more talented individual and needs to add a couple of other tools to his locker to keep progressing IMO.

Agree with this. Russell is excellent at putting Jones into gaps and picking the lines that he runs. Hastings isn't able to do the same yet.

I wonder if he might start seeing time on the wing next season. Glasgow are short there and would give him more scope to pick those lines into midfield.
