Massive opportunity for Australia here. If they can't win from this position, they may as well stop playing New Zealand.

Harsh red for me. Real time had no time to react to Hooper being spun round by Coles, and initial contact wasn't with shoulder imo. Greenwood has it right- you could red card almost every breakdown. If there is any argument, as you posit, then it is harsh.

That very much is what a red card is these days. Forceful contact with the head in a shoulder with no attempt to make a valid tackle or validly hit the ruck. It is textbook under the current provisions and Garces was right to say he had no choice.

Says a lot about historic reffing of the ABs, less about what should be a red.

Hansen will bitch about it, in the same way he thought SBW should only have been yellowed for his shot on Watson.

14 men or otherwise AB's have been struggling to contain the wobblies attack all game.

In reality, it speaks more to how these things were refereed historically generally, and how it has changed in recent years. Not necessarily for the worse.

There was no question about the sbw red, IMO. Will need to see this one again.

Very nice stuff from the wallabies, lots of variety.

This must be getting close to a record stuffing as it stands?

Has a lot to do with a pack getting at least parity.

I reckon the Wallabies might have taken this anyway without the red. Looking quite useful as they were always likely to by the time of the RWC.

And what has happened to Rieko Ioane? He's been awfully quiet of late.

Wallabies got a little bit of luck - the Koroibete try from close range shouldn't have stood, as he wasn't the back man. But having said that, the Kiwi second try was clearly forward and Garces has had a very funny idea of what constitutes a knock on all game, so it's evened out.

Cause he doesn't normally get that at Exeter?

Agreed, as per my previous statement. Pack have had better than parity- possession and territory stats are quite stunning.

I watch zero Premiership rugby. From what I've seen the scrum half at exeter is required to do little more than pass to the next bloke to maintain possession.

They do play in another competition, albeit not usually for very long.

Sound thrashing. Australia were considerably the better team all over. The two tries right after the break pretty much sealed it. Although there was plenty of rugby played after that, the All Blacks inability to hold their line at that point was critical. Well played Oz.

So you would have seen he's looked very average for Chiefs- even accepting your critique of Chiefs play.

My point is that it's a game plan that calls for the very average.

well he even manages to be poor at that, again allowing for your dismissal of their game plan.

Aye. Interestingly not much attacking pizzazz in these ABs currently which makes me think there might be a bit being held back.

He just looked ordinary to me. Or very average, to use a phrase.
