Can anyone explain

Post by astralweeks »

Why eddie jones is announcing his squad tomorrow? They don't have to be finalised until the 5 sept. I am presuming it can changed before then due to injuries and the way its panning out there are going to be plenty of those. Lost 3 already for todays game and it hasn't even kicked off! I was semi excited when i initially saw that farrel wasn't playing especially after reading J Kaplans article in yesterdays telegraph about the new tackle protocol. He is even more of a walking penalty than cole.

He wants a settled squad ASAP. There were numerous complaints that the last pre World Cup training camp had the players focussed on making the squad rather than on preparing for the tournament.

I think he's working on the principle of cutting down the squad early, letting everyone know where they stand, and focussing just on the players going to Japan, rather than spending the next month with reporters speculating and everyone having half their mind on fighting for their place. I can see his point.

On Farrell, I was interested to note that SBarrett's likely to get 4-6 games ban for his red and am already starting to wonder if a red card for Faz in the warm-up might not give us our best chance at the tournament as well as destroying a bit of "the man, the legend" myth that the media have around him.

On the subject of "can anyone explain", can anyone justify how Barrett incident could be anything other than a red? Stone cold to me. I don't understand this "oh it's controversial" chat, especially from someone like Greenwood
