Chronicle's just confirmed it. Utterly unsurprising.

Bath's bench, if he doesn't pull his finger out. Mind, Farrell improved no end after being completely out from under Daddy's coaching - maybe the same will be true of Ford.

By that metric they'll have a full bench. Pretty much the entire squad underperformed this season.

No surprise. Bath have underperformed badly this season and there does seem to be a good deal of discontent around the place.

Talk of Burt taking a job with the Highlanders. I'm sure if Bruce made the right offer.......

I dunno - Priestland did pretty well with his limited time.

I can think of worse people than Burt to take over actually. His RWC was execrable, but he did have successes before that. Get the right support team around him and I think he'd do well.

Eminently unsurprising.

From the outside I'd have given him until Christmas before shopping around (but sounded out a few top-class options in the mean-time).
However, that's not knowing how accurate the rumours of a split dressing room, favouritism etc etc are. I wouldn't be in the least surprised if Bruce basically thinks that Ford's management style needs to someone else on the coaching team to go around after him cleaning up his mess; and with Hatley leaving as well...

Oh, and everyone should just STFU about Burt and Squeeky; I have no idea to tempt fate (though Burt might be a decent option to clean up someone else's mess... again).

Just think if we go the Leicester route and hire Ex-players... Dream team of Robinson, with Callard and Catt... I'd rather Burt and Squeeky!

He hasn't got a great track record in getting the right support team though, has he....and had limited club senior coaching experience in any case- somewhat up and down :)

Took Leeds up, but they went down again straight away. Did OK at the RFU before the 1st team job, with Saxons and u20's.

Churchill Cup x 3 I think, U20 grand slam, three IRB junior finals. But you have a point, which I tend to agree with.

Beat every team in the top 10 bar South Africa (with a draw away being the best result). His win over the ABs was one of only 3 defeats for NZ in the last 4 years. Had an 80% win record in the 6N - yeah, he never won it, but it was still far better than we'd been used to in the 4 years before.

He had flaws, many and varied. But he did do some good things too.

I went from Ernie to Eric, which further led me to wonder would I offer the job to Burt, or Eric Elwood?
