Re: The Rugby Magazine - Fantasy Rugby
What the actual fuck, did I win something in this league?
Unbelievable. I've come full Wasps, scraping in and then peaking when it counts (not this season's Wasps obviously).
I quite liked the playoffs - there were still some hard calls to make about starters vs bench for example. And having the budget to do what you want reflects well on those who made smart choices through the season / picked players like Goode from the start

Anyone going to play the RWC version? Limited to three players from each team but you can make a free transfer every 3-4 days. Not sure whether it's better to pick better players or go for second choices to get the benefit of playing weaker teams.

Re: The Rugby Magazine - Fantasy Rugby
I was going to but I’m on holiday (New England for the fall, keeps the wife quiet) on a road trip so I won’t be able to concentrate on it. I’ve picked my team for the prem fantasy rugby team though already.switchskier wrote:Anyone going to play the RWC version? I'm in. I said I wasn't doing the world cup one due to being away on holiday but I couldn't resist.Scrumhead wrote:Hi all

BTW, how are we meant to pick our team if Wales haven't announced theirs yet and the deadline is fast approaching?
Do we just exclude Welsh players because we cannot know they're going to start? I know some will miss out, I have to pick one of my Welsh picks...

I've put my Welshies in my team anyway and hope they announce the team before this evening.

No - it’s changed to cater for this. If I understand correctly, the deadline is only in effect for the games your players feature in. In other words, your lineup is only 100% locked down for each fixture, so if you have some Japanese players in your side, they’ll need to meet the deadline, but anyone playing tomorrow or on Sunday is flexible until their games kick off.Stom wrote:BTW, how are we meant to pick our team if Wales haven't announced theirs yet and the deadline is fast approaching?

I’ve picked my side in a very round 1 specific way so just hoping my gambles pay off.

I only picked 2 Welsh players anyway: just needed to decide between them. I'll put one in the XV, then.Scrumhead wrote:No - it’s changed to cater for this. Will be interesting. I only have 5 of the most selected players.
Odd that there's 2 Italians in the most selected XV but no Fijians or Japanese...a very European team.

I went for 3 Japanese players - Matsushima was a good gamble and Horie has scored well, but Leitch was a poor choice of captain.
I have two Italians in my round 1 side so I’m hoping for another Matsushima-type of effort.

So glad I changed my captain. If we take 18 as the minimum average again, 17 from Leitch is OK. Just.Scrumhead wrote:I went for 3 Japanese players - Matsushima was a good gamble and Horie has scored well, but Leitch was a poor choice of captain.

I had Matsushima on my team so he's made me a good start. Just need a hat-trick from my captain Sinckler on Sunday and we start rolling.

Re: The Rugby Magazine - Fantasy Rugby
Right guys, quick reminder for the Premiership game kicking off next Friday night.
Rugby Rebels league: https://therugbymagazine.com/fantasy/pr ... remiership
Unique Token: 79ac3e187845
Our league has always been really competitive, so I’m hoping for more of the same this time out.
Could be a tricky one to pick with a lot of players away at the RWC. Good luck!

I’m in, team picked, and only 6 away for the World Cup so I might even get a whole team on the pitch.

Plus I’m doing quite well at the World Cup so I must be learning this malarkey (famous last words).Shiny wrote:I’m in, team picked, and only 6 away for the World Cup so I might even get a whole team on the pitch.

I'm going to be in once teams are named as I find it easier when I'm guaranteed to get at least one full XXIII out.
I'm also leading the RWC competition. How the hell has that happened? Amusingly, TRM now links your team to your local rugby club and enters you in their league. I'm used to competing with you lot who are disconcertingly good - put me in a league with random spods from my rugby club and I'm a full 600 points clear at the top!

lol.
I picked a WC FREE team, but will likely fiddle with it quite a bit before the season kicks off.
Finding it tough to stick to budget this time round, though. A lot of my go-tos have gone up substantially in price.

I had a woeful game week last week. Literally every gamble I took went against me. The highlight being where I elected to go for Beale who made me a miserly 2 points rather than than the 19 I would have made picking a player that didn’t take the field.Puja wrote:I'm going to be in once teams are named as I find it easier when I'm guaranteed to get at least one full XXIII out.

As for the Premiership game, I’m 95% sure of my squad but I won’t pick it until all of the teams are named.
There won’t be anybody included who’s played in the RWC for me at the moment. I’ll be planning to phase 3 or 4 in later once they’re back and rested.

Judging by the percentages on the site, there will be quite a lot of similar squads.

Aye, that's true.Scrumhead wrote:Judging by the percentages on the site, there will be quite a lot of similar squads.
But we're not all going to utilize them the same...
Plus, I'm definitely waiting for a couple of WC returnees, though I need to find space for them in the cap.
I've picked just 29, with only 4 props so far, and only have 319k left...
So will need to drop a couple of my more expensive picks...

True. Even with similar squads, match day selection makes a massive difference - particularly the choice of captain.

Premiership teams for tomorrow will be named at lunchtime so if you haven’t already done so, pick your squad and sign up for the league.

Going to be good. Just worried about prop...not got much quality there
