I’d probably drop it first.

There were some comments earlier that Taylor was good, which I didn't see myself. He's not quick enough off the mark for international rugby at 13. Tend to think it's unfair to judge outside backs too harshly in that sort of game though so postponing judgement.Cameo wrote:Pack got destroyed there.
Backs weren't the problem but thought Laidlaw was poor for the usual reasons plus his box kicking just doesn't go high or far enough; Russel, Maitland and Johnson were okay; Taylor was poor and we've boxed ourselves into playing Harris - I still don't get giving up on having any spark at 13; Seymour was average and needs to be behind Graham; Hogg was very good.
I can't be bothered with fixing the grammar.
Overall systems we just aren't as good as Ireland. Kick chase and shepherding chasers is just one example.
Do you have some inside knowledge or is this just supposition?hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Anyone see Eddie Jones' reaction in the coaching box on 25.5 mins to a silly basic error that Maro/Billy made? F*cking furious and you know damn well they will hear about that after the game even if they thump Tonga. Night and day from our "it's okay sweetheart, you'll do better next time" mentality.
To still be making the same basic mistakes years on is all the evidence you need, no?switchskier wrote:Do you have some inside knowledge or is this just supposition?hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Anyone see Eddie Jones' reaction in the coaching box on 25.5 mins to a silly basic error that Maro/Billy made? It's been going on for years with multiple different players. I don't assume that every coach has the same approach or why would we bother to change them?hugh_woatmeigh wrote:To still be making the same basic mistakes years on is all the evidence you need, no?switchskier wrote:Do you have some inside knowledge or is this just supposition?hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Anyone see Eddie Jones' reaction in the coaching box on 25.5 mins to a silly basic error that Maro/Billy made? I think he's made them more consistent but they have a lower performance ceiling if that makes sense. He's also done it with a lot less and will have to continue doing it with less now Hoggy is gone. Rennie would still need to be surrounded by a top defence coach & forwards coach.General Zod wrote:Have Glasgow got much better under Rennie? I agree with this. Was at the sarries game and they were miles off. They also scored a good try early, made a mistake from the restart and the game went from there.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:I think he's made them more consistent but they have a lower performance ceiling if that makes sense. I am sorry lads, I really am. But this post made me fecking roar with laffs. And the head coach. We play Ireland enough, yet Hogg sounds surprised that they had the ability to batter us. We keep hearing all this preparation bollocks, it wasn't evident in the warm ups and it sure as shit isn't evident now. We look unfit, clueless and completely lacking in confidence.Donny osmond wrote:"

Scotland full-back Stuart Hogg tells BBC Radio Scotland: "I've never been involved in a Scotland camp that the preparation has been as spot-on and unfortunately we’ve just not stood up and we’ve been battered.
"I’d love to be able to tell you but we had a game plan in play to try and disrupt and score points and unfortunately we didn’t get into the flow of the game. Ireland put us under a lot of pressure and full credit to them. Out wide there was space but we didn’t find ourselves with much time on the ball.
"We’ve got the quality within the squad to bounce back now. It’s all about reviewing this in a positive light and making sure we learn from our mistakes.""
One wonders just how many mistakes a pro sportsman has to make before he actually starts learning from them.
And, after that display, the idea that world cup preparation was in any way meaningful is just bullshit.

He was responsible for two turnovers (I don’t think there were many more Scottish turnovers in the game) and looked to be sharper than most on the pitch when a ball went loose.switchskier wrote:There were some comments earlier that Taylor was good, which I didn't see myself. What I would say is that we pick two hard running, direct centres and proceeded to play with no depth. Ireland's line speed was phenomenal but you'd still expect to see them hit the line at speed at least once.
Christ. If you’re over here being all nicey nicey then we really must be in the shit.SerjeantWildgoose wrote:I am sorry lads, I really am. But this post made me fecking roar with laffs. Hope things aren’t as bad as initially thought with Hamish’s knee.
Yeah, all the usual pish. I'm completely fed up of the guy now.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:You'll all be glad to know Toony peddled the ever so common "we'll be much better against our next opponent" line.
