Wales saw that out in a way we wouldn't be able. They started to concede and stopped the bleeding, we would have bled out.

True, was v impressive - not sure they would be confident coming up against Australia again though!

AB/Canada game was brutal. Their handling is sublime especially in the conditions.

Haha, was about to comment on here that the Georgia 14 has been impressive in all their games and then he switches off thinking the ball is going out and let's Fiji in

Russia are going to get smashed here but I actually think they are quite impressive although lacking in some pace

Really underwhelming performances from Georgia in the warm ups & the RWC itself. Quite sad to see. If they were serious about pushing for a 6N spot this was the platform on which they could put their case forward.

It is indeed a pity. I think they haven’t benefited from Gorgodze’s retirement then half-arsed return. He’s been a bit like what Parisse has been to the Italians. They don’t yet have the strength in depth to compete consistently at the top table, but will hopefully come again.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:Really underwhelming performances from Georgia in the warm ups & the RWC itself. Did anyone from here go to Tbilisi, or know anyone that did? Any reports?

Is anyone else watching this circle-jerk on itv? Didn’t think it could get worse than Barnes or Inverdale, but fucking hell, it’s bad.
It’s like Wilkinson and Dallaglio are leading the bukkake, ably assisted by the cheerleader, and the england fans are keeping the carpet dry.

Haha, I'm watching but luckily not on ITV. Game over with the red card but England alternating between impressive and pretty toothless

Good on Namibia so far but it is making me nervous for our Russia game!
I'm curious about the Namibia Canada game. Great chance for them to get their first WC win (assuming they don't win this!)
Btw I don't normally like Pascal Gauzere but he is having another decent game after doing well in Australia Uruguay yesterday

Some comedy right here...

Not a hint of irony from the Irishman, but to be fair, the AB’s knock O’Mahony et al into a cocked hat. Possibly even Farrellsaurus Rex too.

USA have been a real let down this tournament. It was a very tough pool but I thought they would show some progression. Very little spark in attack and not as good at the basics as I expected.

I don't know who I want to win. I love Fiji, but they're probably out regardless while a Fiji win helps Australia, who I do not love.

Wales have just about weathered the storm but I don't know how people moan about the All Blacks being cynical when teams like Wales constantly push the limits around rucks. Fair enough do what you can get away with but refs are too focused on it being directly "material" rather than focusing on how it slows everything down

I can’t wait until the World Cup is over and we find out what the new reffing guidelines are going to be for the next cycle. They must have recognised how many long-term issues seem to be hitting a pinnacle right as we’ve gone in to this tournament?
Do we reckon they’ll go with the logical, but slightly embarrassing, option of ‘enforce all the existing laws properly’ or perhaps something more left-field like ‘wrong-footed drop goals are now worth 4 points.’

Re: Best of the rest
You already know the answer. Aren't they set to trial a kick-into-the-oppo-22-and-it's-attacking-throw-in amendment?

I should say, I've enjoyed the games in this WC, it's just all the time watching them gives me the opportunity to moan on here!

I know we have never beaten the All Blacks, but is the weather related draw as close as Italy have ever got?

Italy's first draw against NZAL. wrote:I know we have never beaten the All Blacks, but is the weather related draw as close as Italy have ever got?
First RWC pool match the ABs haven't won
First time in a long time that the ABs have been nilled
