I reckon japan Scotland will be on.
Hopefully behind closed doors - given the number of Edinburgh players in the Sco team who are used to playing in an empty stadium...

USA vs Tonga and Wales vs Uruguay are on. Scotland vs Japan is still pending.

Lots of rumours that Scotland vs Japan is a go.
ETA. And just as I post that, it's officially confirmed that it will be held as scheduled.
ETETA. Apparently that's unofficially officially - the full announcement will be at around 3am, but it's pretty certain now. It's certainly certain enough that I'm going the hell to bed now.

Excellent news. Both sides will have wanted to play and this is a fitting climax to the pool stages.

3 RWC games cancelled with no alternative arranged - doesn't change my opinion on WR one iota.Lizard wrote:Ok. Game on.

We're gonna have to invent a collective noun for when so many panties get so bunched up. I'd say its "an SMB" but truth be told if this had been any other MB it would've been worse... maybe just "a rebeller".Lizard wrote:Ok. Game on.

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Re: World Cup cancellations
I can’t remember where I read it, but wasn’t there a suggestion to shift the timing of the 6 nations to allow the World Cup to take place outside of the typhoon season? Wasn’t it the 6 nations unions that wouldn’t consider this as the 6 nations is too lucrative for them?

It is nice that our game is on. But by cancelling the two potentially impactful games it still leaves a sour taste.

Re: World Cup cancellations
Delighted that game is on but, like others, it doesn't change my view that the lack of a contingency leading to three games being cancelled is a mess (especially when they spend months telling people how they were planning for everything).
I feel especially sorry for Namibia today (and, yes, everyone far worse affected by the actual typhoon). I felt they had a real chance for a first ever world cup win having had to battle for three games they knew they had no real chance in

They all should have been played.Big D wrote:It is nice that our game is on. But by cancelling the two potentially impactful games it still leaves a sour taste.
Namibia v Canada had nothing riding on it but pride & the opportunity to further grow their game back home by generating interest. Why on earth would you not postpone it a few days so they could play it out. It's their own RWC final. It goes against everything WR are supposedly trying to drive.

Re: World Cup cancellations
Italy's defeatist attitude is embarrassing as well. Apparently they were getting ready to depart the country just as the news went public via Gilpin's conference.
They should have wanted to test themselves against the best in the world but I suppose they're quite happy with the history books saying they got a draw against the kiwis....

nah, this omnicluckfuster needs proper looking into. Had enough of NZ special treatment. Has the haka finished yet? I made a coffee, drank it then and had a shite while the first one was going on. I'm expecting a fine from WR as per their regs for disrespecting the hakaLizard wrote:Ok. Game on.

Re: World Cup cancellations
NZ special treatment? Good grief man, we've been diddled out of the match we were relying onto get Brodie Retallick fully operational. A 13-day layoff is hardly the ideal warm-up for a RWC play-off. The last time we played Ireland coming in cold, on neutral territory, we got completely smashed.septic 9 wrote:nah, this omnicluckfuster needs proper looking into. Had enough of NZ special treatment. I also see that you are a new member, so I'll let you off for your breach of regulations in attempting to diss the Haka without first posting the YouTube clip of the '70s Disco Haka. Once you have rectified that omission then I will of course post the obligatory response asking if you have the same problem with the Cibi, Sipi Tau or Sivi Tau. Sooner or later a Welshman will chip in with a comment of changing sheds and the circle will be complete.

would that cancelled match be the one NZ were offered a day later and refused to play
ie the no show that would have meant match forfeited for most unions?
would that be the thug Retallick who was banned and spent his ban not playing the in the Mitre Cup he was never ever going to play in the run up to they RWC?
The haka was once a great thing. Now its taking the piss. Goes on and on and on and on and ..............Fucking goes on longer and more boring than a series Strictly on Ice choreographed by the producers of NZ TV. And don't dare diss something that isn't anything like the original else you'll take the huff? Oh and hide in the dressing room? Take the huff, like a bunch of spoiled kids who always expect to get their own way and throw a tantrum full of make believe when they don't
I am actually quite impressed you have heard of Cibi, Sipi Tau or Sivi Tau. No mean feat given you rarely play these teams, outside a RWC; almost never in their native countries.
And you'll let me off will you? More condescending shite form one of the no self awareness lot. I am new to posting on here, not new to reading stuff now and then. As I said in my first post, there is so much shot on here its hard knowing where to start. And that's just this sub-forum. Don't start me on your lot
Do yourself a favour, wake up, grow up and wise up. The days of sponging off northern hemisphere unions are fading fast

I've done a fair it as it happens. Not so much now. Nowadays I turn up if the price is right, in which case anywhere, anytime (unless I've been paid in advance, in which case I'll see how I feel).SerjeantWildgoose wrote:Do you do after dinner speaking by any chance?

Re: World Cup cancellations
And the NZ refusing to play a day later is only from Brian Moore's twitter and appears to be unsubstantiated rumour. And even if it were true, it wouldn't mean "match forfeited for other unions", cause that was part of the participation agreement that matches wouldn't be rearranged.
Fair points on the haka becoming an elongated performance though.
