81 kicks in that game and I'm surprised it was that few. Evidently you can play successful rugby that way but it will be terrible for the game if everyone copies it. Therefore I'll be supporting England in the final.

plus ça change, plus c'est la même choseChunks Baws wrote:Some proper melt downs from the Welsh on Twitter, it's all Garces fault.
Has there been a match yet this RWC where the losing fans didn't blame the ref?
Well, maybe some of the cross-tier matches, but outside of that?

I don't think any of us blamed the ref for our defeats. We were well beaten by Ireland and Japan. The only bitching we've done is about Townsend and his coaches.Which Tyler wrote:plus ça change, plus c'est la même choseChunks Baws wrote:Some proper melt downs from the Welsh on Twitter, it's all Garces fault.

Re: Best of the rest
I find blaming refs now pointless because they are ignoring so many laws, refs dont have bad games, they just ignore behaviours that unfairly affect a team more than the other.
Yesterday
Owens ignored the tackle area in the best traditions of french referees but thats just the state of international rugby,
Its mental watching the pro 14 , its like the refs have a bee in their bonnet about not going to the RWC so enforcing everything the showboaters at the RWC are ignoring
Clancey and Murphy have both been exellent so far this season (it burns)

Wales Ireland South Africa all doing it to greater or lesser extents. Scotland trying to, unsuccessfully. This is not a golden age of rugby.switchskier wrote:81 kicks in that game and I'm surprised it was that few. It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I'm not sure that is fair. Wales and SA (although yesterday was an extreme example). Ireland play keep ball more than kicking. Scotland trying to keep more but still trying to play an entertaining game.Donny osmond wrote:Wales Ireland South Africa all doing it to greater or lesser extents. Scotland trying to, unsuccessfully. Overall though I think there are a lot of successful attacking teams about

There was a piece I read not long ago (can't remember where) that said Toony moved us to a kicking game around a year ago but it's been shite basically because our defence is rotten.

It'll click eventually that poor ball retention and terrible defence isn't going to be compatible with any game-plan you could think of.Chunks Baws wrote:Cameo wrote:I'm not sure that is fair. South Africa actually come to play. If they hadn't burnt through a couple of their forwards subs already I think they would be quite confident. England can score quick quickly though

I don’t quite know what England were thinking about in the first quarter with all that ball playing in front of (and behind!) their posts. Terrible game management.Cameo wrote:South Africa actually come to play. If they hadn't burnt through a couple of their forwards subs already I think they would be quite confident. So do the SRU know their fans or not? Some of these replies are hilarious.

SA too good today. England never really got into the game. Jones probably should have taken Mako off after 30.

Yeah, for all the stories about the players and where theyve come from, tbh the SA win was all about Erasmus and how brilliantly he's managed their WC campaign.Big D wrote:Was a nice gesture IMO.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:So do the SRU know their fans or not? Some of these replies are hilarious.

Ive never understood why the 4 uk countries are so desperate for each other to support them.
Perhaps its because i see myself as scottish first, european second and earthling third.
It really smacks of some imperial requirement to be liked. I dont care if anyone supports scotland or not, i do and thats all i care about.

I am of a similar mindset. However, I must take issue with the use of “earthling”. It really is quite condescending to use a diminutive form like “earthling”. We prefer the word, “human”, rather than the “e-word”. Therefore, on behalf of the human race, I demand that you apologise to all of humanity for your dismissive hate speech.whatisthejava wrote:Ive never understood why the 4 uk countries are so desperate for each other to support them.

Perhaps in these times of WR pushing for a stupid World League and we are seen as a major obstacle, and in these times when WR have taken offence for Dodson stating the fucking obvious, making friends is better than telling the other home nations to fuck off. Just maybe.whatisthejava wrote:Ive never understood why the 4 uk countries are so desperate for each other to support them.

I'd rather they had wished their fellow 6N team all the best, a better still option
