Maybe they are necessary, whatever they are called, because the single-handed long throw has gone out of fashion. That fat Canadian guy used do it often. What the hell was his name?

You just don't see as many quality ball vaginas as you used to.

Nick Tompkins apparently getting called up for Wales. Definitely a player good enough to have a crack at international rugby.

Thinking of our centre options for 6N’s;

Manu
Joseph
Francis
Devoto
Lozowski
Slade (hopefully back after the 1st game or 2)

Ollie Lawrence would be a real nod to the future. Can’t see Atkinson or Sam Hill getting a call. Anyone else?

What’s Tompkins’ Welsh connection? I’ll be annoyed to lose him. He’s a good player who is steadily improving and it’s not as though we’re blessed with a great deal of options at 12.

Grandmother apparently.

I really rate Tompkins, and he should have been in the mix for this next England squad. At the same time I can easily come up with 5, 6 or more centres that I couldn’t knock Eddie for putting above him. And from his POV, Wales have an injury crisis and England have really talented younger centres pushing through. If he says no he might never get another opportunity.

They’ve called up Will Rowlands as well! Didn’t know he had a Welsh connection either.

Since he’s already called up McNicholl and Halaholo, Pivac seems to be keen on following the Scotland route of picking a team with as little first-hand connection to Wales as possible.

Shame about Tomkins

More of a shame about Cokanasiga still being injured! Does anyone know how long he's out for? It's a bit worrying really.

Good question that as they were supposed to have decided by now if rehab was enough or whether he needed to have surgery on whatever his knee problem is, a problem that we're told England simply strapped up and sent him out to play with, and I don't know if anyone has heard what if anything Bath heard back from England about that?

Any surprises likely in tomorrow’s squad announcement?

A week ago, I would have said Tompkins was likely to have had a shot, but clearly not now.

I’d like to see Furbank and Stuart get a deserved chance, but any other uncapped players I’d like to see have been in the wider squad previously (Dombrandt, Earl, Dunn etc.) so would be less of a surprise.

Vunipola is out so surely we have to look at Dombrandt, Simmonds or perhaps Earl?

Is Mercer playing at the moment?

I think Simmonds should get the 8 shirt without question but I'd not be surprised if Jones does not pick him.

How do you want to play if you bring in Simmonds at 8? And do you want to keep Cunderhill?

Yep. Dupont seems to be the obvious future at the moment. But who knows, you’ll probably try him at tight-head and mess with his confidence.

I just can’t get over it. Imagine having the balls to try that.
That is utterly, utterly ridiculous. What a piece of skill.
