Hmmm, I do like les boudins blanc, even if it sounds more Bavarian to me. Indeed, there is a French connection to the Bavarian Weißwurst, as it is rumoured its popularity kicked off when napoleon came to town.

Yes, I think that it could be a wiener - sorry, winner - also partly due to Ellis Genge referencing sausages at Murrayfield t’other week.

And sausages can’t catch or pass. And they tend to break down when playing heads up rugby.

Gilchrist suddenly better than Toolis again. Good to see Skinner but a shame Fagerson doesn't get another shot.

I'm curious at what point we would need to use Duncan Weir other than injury, even if he's playing well enough at club level.

Struggling to see why we have dropped Toolis, the only dedicated tight head lock, for here's a stupid penalty machine Gilchrist. I get Haining for the disappearing man Bradbury but not Bradbury over workaholic Fagerson whose stats recently are just ridiculous.

Bonjour, Ss. Oui, ça va très bien, merci! Marchand est un talonneur exceptionnel, rapide et il a des bonnes mains. Par contre, Chat est extrêmement physique et adore la confrontation. Tous les deux seront les talonneurs principaux pendant longtemps. Now in English! Yes, there may just be a question mark about the props’ scrummaging if the opposition are wily enough. Do you really think your props can get the upper hand?

I also thought we would keep Toolis as the TH lock, but I have to say he doesn’t really deserve it. If ever there is a journeyman, he’s it. Bit of a cap thief - has never had a standout game at Test level.

I really enjoy watching Fagerson (M) play for Weeg but he does get overpowered a bit in Tests. Got ragdolled by the Italians two weeks ago.

He got thrown off by Polledri, who is easily one of the most powerful carriers in the world. Other than that I remember a few collisions that were just a stalemate. I don’t recall him getting the ball in any decent position to make an impact. Did I miss something?

I don’t think he’s brought his best to Scotland yet, but his club form is so vastly superior to anyone else’s I feel like it would be worth investing in. GT’s man management still concerns me slightly.

What is happening in training to mean some guys yo-yo in and out of the team all the time (Toolis being the prime example- is he meant to be our best scrummager because I’d have thought we’d want that vs France?), while others are limited to cameo bench appearances and then dropped.

For instance I’d love to know if Hutchinson had some sort of specific instruction when he came on vs Italy. He threw a bunch of pointless miss passes and just looked desperate to make a game-changing play.

Slightly unexpected changes. I agree Toolis is a bit average so we need to move on but as MB says it does feel like we yo-yo a bit randomly. McInally was not bad last time out and Haining hasn't been special in the last two Edinburgh games (whereas Crosbie has). Hutchinson may have gone off the boil a little but he has been given a strange role and hasn't done anything wrong.

Happy for Steyn though. He is showing signs of becoming a quality finisher.
