Doubt it, the welsh have never really embraced his more pragmatic style of play, for all that he's a relentlessly gobby pain in the arse. You hear more over the ref Mike from the welsh than any other team. I'd love to see an opposition player step in and tell them to respect the refs decisions.no sleep wrote:Just think: ten years and Dan Biggar's in his seat.

Yeah not sure why the Welsh are making such a big deal of that, I thought the ref got it spot on.switchskier wrote:Can I just reiterate how much I dislike jiffy. There is no way that is a penalty try. He does the sport a disservice by being quite so one eyed

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

France keep running out of steam after 60, but I reckon France by 10 next week.

Good thing we're interested in the result the following weekwhatisthejava wrote:France keep running out of steam after 60, but I reckon France by 10 next week.
BTW I would be surprised if George North is not ignoring medical advice to retire from rugby forthwith. That guy has had so many HIAs & been knocked out cold more times than I can count. More than any other player I can recall.

I hope he does just call it a day. That hit wasn’t hard and he went down hard.
I really don’t want to see a guys career over but I really don’t want to see him have a serious life changing event

I think North is already at the point where he's going to have problems later on in life. The question is now - to what extent?whatisthejava wrote:I hope he does just call it a day. That hit wasn’t hard and he went down hard.

Funny to see Itoji holding down two Irish guys after the ruck, then the Irish guys getting a talking-to for brawling.
Also looks very much like the end of the Murray-Sexton era.

Itoje is having a stormer, both legally and illegally.no sleep wrote:Funny to see Itoji holding down two Irish guys after the ruck, then the Irish guys getting a talking-to for brawling.

Dunno if I'd be too quick to write off Murray and Sexton but both have been gash this first half

Quite a lot of illegal but he's getting away with it (again) so fair play. England dominating physically and therefore look great again.Donny osmond wrote:Itoje is having a stormer, both legally and illegally.no sleep wrote:Funny to see Itoji holding down two Irish guys after the ruck, then the Irish guys getting a talking-to for brawling.

This game is also notable for having the most shit head wind up merchants on the field at any one time. True fact.

Possibly as a direct result it also has more tears from more princesses than has ever been witnessed on a international rugby field before. Also true.

Re: Other 6N games
England are very very good if they get on top of you physically. I think it is all about stopping the momentum of their first two or three carries.
From that game the biggest plus was a referee giving a penalty for a player holding someone in a ruck while on the floor.
The biggest minus was that Peyper made it obvious that if you are being held illegally you will only get a penalty if you start a fight and keep going until it's serious enough the ref has no choice (and then it is a lottery). He actively noted Stander trying to get Farrell to let go, watched for a bit, went back to the ruck and then 5 seconds later saw it had escalated further and gave a penalty. That should be a penalty every time and, ideally, where it is absolutely blatant, and the offender has no defence that they thought they were on their feet etc., a yellow card for cynical cheating.

Obviously people's health comes first but it's absolutely shite having no game until after 4
How do we see England v Wales going? An England win for me.

England by 18. Comfortable all game but Wales to get a late score to put a false gloss on itChunks Baws wrote:Obviously people's health comes first but it's absolutely shite having no game until after 4

Yeah can't see Wales winning this one, England playing with a lot of intensity. Wales best chance might be if an English players lets the intensity get the better of them and gets an early bath, which could easily happen on the evidence of the first 15 mins.switchskier wrote:England by 18. Anyone else see the English prop playing with AWJ's willy?

Well that was an interesting start to the half. Not sure what Daly was doing there.

The Welsh don't care - have flagged it a couple of times on their board. But 74 mins, that's North out cold again briefly. How can professional organisation keep doing this to a human being? He's obviously in denial but someone in the management team needs to say to him look mate... this is bad...
