Salary cap review published

Post by Epaminondas Pules »

Good read all round. Some interesting points and some very questionable, if technically legal, practices. The loan aspect especially. I remember Mike Williams coming off the bench for Yorkshire in their 83 v 0 loss to Notts. Not that it’s dodgy, but was a bit weird. Did not know this aspect of the regs.

Certainly worth looking at what loans your clubs did last season.....

"Players have apparently been put on loan to another club for six months without even being aware they are on loan." W O W.

I think the marquee stuff is good. I'm not sure Rugby works in the same way as football in having headline players particularly pushing the gate fans/shirt sales. Fair enough if you had Lomu or Wilkinson, but (as amazing as he is) can't see Radradra suddenly increasing Bristols ticket sales exponentially...
Better just to do good work in the community and build a local fan base through good communication and sensible management no?
