That’s awful. It doesn’t sound like a return to rugby is likely, but hopefully he’ll regain the use of his legs.Tigersman wrote:Not sure where to put this but very sad news coming out of the club.

It sounded like Gibson was potentially looking at options outside of rugby, but I’d have thought Homer would have suitors across the Premiership.Puja wrote:Looking over a list of Premiership transfers in and out and have noted that neither Tom Homer nor Jamie Gibson have a club yet after being released. I would not say no to taking on those two, which would patch the two weakest areas in our squad.

Not completely relevant, since it's technically about next season... Is this really your new kit? Looking more at the away kit.

Suddenly, the reason for Tuilagi wanting to leave becomes clear. That change strip is a shocker.

We have had worse.
Admittedly, that's a low bar to trip over, but we have had far worse than that. I actually don't mind the blue and crayons look.

I'm a big fan of the change kit.
Glad to see Tigers marketing looking at the Indian demographic as well.
I've always like a bit of colour on a change shirt, rather it be too loud than bland.
The video they have done gives you more of an idea why the colours.

Nope, sorry, still don't like it. Love the idea of trying to incorporate more of the community, just not sure that baby blue with mutli coloured lion strips on it, really works.

I knew that colour scheme looked familiar. That makes sense and I like the reasoning behind it. Certainly better than this effort from a few seasons back:Tigersman wrote:I'm a big fan of the change kit.

Re: How is Leicester’s squad looking ahead of the restart?
Don't like the home kit much, slanted stripes and it just looks a bit blocky. I like the way they've paired it with the white shorts and black socks though.
Away kits looks a bit rugby sevens, it's more fun than recent attempts. I like it, I'm not sure why I like it but I do. I may well be ordering one. Trying to integrate more with the community is a good way forward. The football and cricket club haven't really managed to tap into to the demographic they are targeting so the results will be interesting.

Is the lack of a bit of colour in a certain pattern what's been holding back the Indian demographic? And critically these days is the incorporation of subcontinental styles going to draw a charge of cultural appropriation?Tigersman wrote: Glad to see Tigers marketing looking at the Indian demographic as well.

I’m hearing rumours that the Tigers Have Rights movement are demanding that Leicester are renamed to Leicester Lockdown and any resemblance of tiger stripes on club apparel be ceased immediately.Digby wrote:Is the lack of a bit of colour in a certain pattern what's been holding back the Indian demographic? I quite like Leicester Lurgy, and any number of their recent kits look like some interpretation of illness by the designer which might get them past the just cause of the Tigers Have Rights movementMellsblue wrote:I’m hearing rumours that the Tigers Have Rights movement are demanding that Leicester are renamed to Leicester Lockdown and any resemblance of tiger stripes on club apparel be ceased immediately.Digby wrote:Is the lack of a bit of colour in a certain pattern what's been holding back the Indian demographic? Re: How is Leicester’s squad looking ahead of the restart?
It goes hand in hand with a new proactive out reach programme, one we've needed for sometime. Too often our community outreach work has centered on areas where rugby is already a hotbed. Mini rugby tournaments, Melton Mowbray Show etc. There's more to be gained trying to engage with more of the community, the diversification in Leicester is large and currently looking at the major sponsors of the club we aren't getting much from the non-white demographic nor are we seeing many players come through. Leicester is a real melting pot with more than just the Asian community, there's African and Caribbean communities as well. The later two might provide be particularly well suited genetically for rugby should they be convinced it's the sport for them from an early age.Digby wrote:Is the lack of a bit of colour in a certain pattern what's been holding back the Indian demographic? Re: How is Leicester’s squad looking ahead of the restart?
I think it's more showing that they give a shit and it isn't a sport that has no interest in anyone else but white people rather than the colour scheme being a magic bullet. I'd imagine it's probably backed up with outreach and schools programs.Digby wrote:Is the lack of a bit of colour in a certain pattern what's been holding back the Indian demographic? And, no, that's not really how cultural appropriation works. Obviously if someone complains, it's worth re-examining, but actively seeking to represent and include a community isn't appropriation.

Re: How is Leicester’s squad looking ahead of the restart?
So, new signings:
Luke Wallace
Kobus van Wyk
Guy Porter
An open-side, a centre/wing, and a centre/wing/full-back. That's certainly patched the obvious holes in our squad. I don't really know the latter two, but Luke Wallace seems like an excellent signing - at the very least, he is a good solid Premiership-level player (and younger than I thought at 29 - he's just been around for ages) in a position where we've been desperately short for many years, but good coaching could turn him into a standout player and an absolute bargain.
Interesting that Rob Taylor is having such an impact on recruitment. I've gotta say that neither Potter nor Porter (and won't that be confusing) have looked particularly promising talents from the few highlights that are floating around the interwebs, but I guess you've gotta trust that Taylor's seen something in them.

Re: How is Leicester’s squad looking ahead of the restart?
1) Genge / Gigena / (Whitcombe)
2) Montoya / Mamukashvili / TYoungs / Kerr / Clare
3) Cole / Heyes / Leatigaga
4) Enever / Lavanini / (Martin) / (Henderson)
5) Green / Wells / Lewis / (Manz) / (Chessum)
6) Brink / Liebenberg / (Ashworth)
7) Wallace / Reffell / (Lavin)
8) Taufua / Coghlan / (Smith)
9) Youngs / White / Simmons / (Van Poortvliet) / (Law)
10) Ford / Henry / McPhillips
11) Nadolo / Potter / Williams / Porter
12) Scott / Hardwick
13) Moroni / Taute / Kelly
14) Van Wyk / Aspland-Robinson / (Browning)
15) Murimurivalu / Olowofela / Worth / (Steward)
If we do secure Moroni, then that's a pretty solid side building up there. Although a little concerning how few of our first XV would be English - we'll have gone from providing 6 of the England 23 to being lucky to have 6 English starters.

Moroni secured.
Yeh was thinking about the EQP especially with Montoya heavily linked for next season.
We do seem to have a good core of young English players as 2nd/3rd choices so hopefully plenty of rotation

Yep, there's a lot of names I don't recognise once you move past the first choice. Patching a team up with some relatively cheap foreigners and then looking to the promising youngsters behind isn't the worst possible approach, I guess.
Is Tuafua a decent 8 too?

He can play across the back row. Although FKAS said Brink can play there as well, so it'll be a case of who shows up best in training, I guess.Mikey Brown wrote:Yep, there's a lot of names I don't recognise once you move past the first choice. Just looked him up and I can certainly see the appeal of having him at 8 now, assuming he's solid in the set pieces in that role.
