I’d like to think they would have, but then I wonder how much of their RWC success can be put down to the approach of saving all of their main players for the tournament.
Would they be as good without that continuity of training?

As I understand it, that was a factor in them declining. Their border closure would not have allowed non-Japan based personnel to get together beforehand. Japanese health system has its eye on priority.

I wonder with everyone spending so much time at home with more limited horizons what the impact is on sporting ambition, does the frustration with normal life bleed over, or when it comes to the autumn tests will that little change of scenery for the players give a lift?
