Yes, indeed! Erdington (or Airdington!) used to be on one of my former club's fixture list back in the 70s.

Saw Andy a couple of weeks back. He's done a fabulous job there and will be the first to admit it's not been a solo flight, and a damned hard one too. The path to the RFU it utterly pointless. They are not in the slightest bit interested. Which is a very sad indictment.

it really is an impressive showing, and it's not like they've got nice facilities down there to tempt people in

Indeed. It goes to show how community engagement can really work, but it is a truck load of graft to get anywhere. It is brilliant to see them get this recognition. I remember a similar attempt made in Handsworth [not Handsworth RUFC], which initially got a good deal of traction and interest, but then waned over time into nothing.

Not the swishest part of Brum back in my junior playing days, don't recall playing there, (mostly posh grammar OB's in the N.Mids.). but it's a different game now and worthy recognition.
