some of his songs i liked, some i didn't but always respected his creative talent. must admit i thought of him as a composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist but it wasn't till i saw this performance a couple years ago that i realised what a brilliant guitarist he was.

He was an awesome guitarist, and his creativity in the 80's was special; maybe he lost his way a little, but most do run out of steam (even Bowie had 20+ years of trying to re-find his mojo).cymroo wrote:some of his songs i liked, some i didn't but always respected his creative talent. must admit i thought of him as a composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist but it wasn't till i saw this performance a couple years ago that i realised what a brilliant guitarist he was.

Shocking. Never a particular fan either, though his talent was undeniable. Shocked none-the-less, part of the backdrop and the sound track along with the others.
Gerald Davies, what was he doing there?!

Same for me. I think I posted that video on the old board.
As for the maths. There are mathematic 'theories' on both sides, they are not the same as mathematical facts. I asked for maths.

I hated everything up to Sign of the Times, and then I started to see the point. Purple Rain (song and film) were just dreadful. Kiss is a funk classic. I liked The Batman soundtrack too.
57 ain't old. Better than 27, but still no age at all. Had the feeling that a massive comeback was just around the corner. Probably will be now.
RIP.

Don't know how true this is, seemingly Eric Clapton was once asked what its like to be the best guitarist in the world, "I don't know, " came the reply, " ask Prince."

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Never a big fan of his music or his histrionics but that guitar attack is terrific .
