I imagine it's more about destroying the competition than making profit in the short term. I'm a buyer for Foyles and I imagine they're treating streaming/entertainment in the same way they treated books, music, clothing, food, everything.
But hell I've got a fire stick too, and I've not been allowed BT since the wife found out Virgin have quicker broadband! So I'd be happy, at least for now, until we all become Amazon drones and have to pay with our firstborn to the Bezos just in order to be registered as a human being. Or something.

Good. I think it's a sensible decision to go with a settled partner rather than trying to eke out the very best deal and it looks like the negotiating tactics have got an extra £2m above BT's "final offer" which, while not enough to cover CVC's cut, does at least validate the theory that their negotiation skills add some value.

Agreed. Only problem is the price but we'll just have to suck that up. Amazon experience was awful, they need to sort that out.
