Pick a game for ruck marks.
There's a catch though. It needs to be a chiefs game with Sam Simmonds.
I'll be trying to do both backrows. So if it could be against a side with other england/england hopefuls, or other internationals, it'd be handy.
I want to get an idea of how hard Simmonds works. I know he does very eye catching stuff, but I'd like to see how much graft he does too. He players more like a flanker in England terms, so that's what I'd be hoping to see from him.

Hard to know how to do that fairly IMO. I’m not sure how much value you’d get doing it in an average Premiership game given Exeter (recent form aside) tend to dominate. The trouble is, with no European games for the foreseeable, that’s kind of all we have.
Exeter play Newcastle at Kingston Park in round 8. That could be a decent one to do. Newcastle will be well up for the physical battle so rucks are going to need clearing and graft will be essential.

Why not go back and do the Racing and/or Toulouse semi and final? Both full games on YouTube I think.

Then maybe include recent form?Scrumhead wrote:Hard to know how to do that fairly IMO. I'd rather have it to do this weekend, as there aren't any games.
I like the idea of the euro games, higher intensity. The only problem is no English backrow to contrast and compare. (And I can recognise the english ones a lot quicker, which makes it easier).

A game v Wasps so we can see Willis too? Or Sale to see Curry's?

I'm thinking I'll go for the latest Exeter vs Bristol.
For me, Hughes and Simmonds are more similar in how they are used (make holes further out than Billy V). And we also have Earls as a competitor to Simmonds, in mainly playing at 8, but perhaps looking more at a flank role for England.

Not sure about that. Earl has mostly played 7 for Bristol with Hughes at 8. He often moves to 8 later in the game but the majority of his starts have been on the flank.

Yeah but assuming we're not dropping Billy them Simmonds is hoping for the 20 shirt, like earl and Willis. Hughes is also an ex England 8 who many here call lazy (and he's got a real Christmas gut now). Simmonds should be able to show well. I've not checked any stats etc beforehand. It's their last game other England contenders seems perfect.

Chiefs v Wasps from 2 Jan seems like the obvious call here. Chiefs were stomped, Willis on 1 side, Simmonds on the other

Willis came off at half time, and as a Wasps supporter, it seemed rather obvious to pick a game that Wasps stomped themDanno wrote:Chiefs v Wasps from 2 Jan seems like the obvious call here. Chiefs were stomped, Willis on 1 side, Simmonds on the other

I'm just struggling to think of another recent, relevant game. Could be worth waiting for the end of the month fixtures, but the internationals will be in campRaggs wrote:Willis came off at half time, and as a Wasps supporter, it seemed rather obvious to pick a game that Wasps stomped themDanno wrote:Chiefs v Wasps from 2 Jan seems like the obvious call here.
