Ford or Farrel?
I don't think we've ever discussed this before...

Just watched that. Very interesting. I need to watch this week's game with some care and possibly sobriety.

Though if you wanted people to view it, you could have given it a different title

I think we have a bit of F v F fatigue.

Re: Ford or Farrel?
Ford's a great player, without him Leicester would have been relegated by now.
I'm just hoping he gets some toys to play with this 6N. I'll stop there because I've moaned about that enough.
He's got to a point now where there are no real weaknesses in his game. Most of the names you'd normally see listed above him in the best flyhalf in the world lists simply can't say that.

It isn’t an ‘F v F’ video so I agree, it was an odd title for the thread.Stom wrote:Which Tyler wrote:I don't think we've ever discussed this before...

I thought that was a great watch TBH. Genuinely very insightful and really highlights how Ford manages the game.

Oh god, why would you do that to yourself. Squidge himself devoted a good 30seconds of the vid effectively mocking what would be down in that pit.Mikey Brown wrote:Jesus. Just looked through the comments on this video.

If a world-class 12 dropped out of the sky tomorrow and demanded a starting shirt, who would Jones pick at 10?

I suspect we all know the answer, and it's not one many of us would agree withOakboy wrote:If a world-class 12 dropped out of the sky tomorrow and demanded a starting shirt, who would Jones pick at 10?

He'd still pick Ford at 10 and Farrell at 12.Oakboy wrote:If a world-class 12 dropped out of the sky tomorrow and demanded a starting shirt, who would Jones pick at 10?

Squidge rugby really does put out some first rate videos.
Nice to have one appreciating the qualities Ford can bring to a team. He's a fabulous player.

What can I say? Boredom? Masochism? There’s just some sort of morbid curiosity that draws me towards this stuff.Which Tyler wrote:It's not like it's the first rule of social media...Danno wrote:Oh god, why would you do that to yourself. “You could play any ..... and I mean ANY of the Premiership number 10’s inside Farrell and he’d make them look just as good as Ford.”

Re: Ford or Farrel?
I think Ford is a great fly half with vision, footballing skills and pace. I'd have him ahead of Farrell at 10 any day. But this video suffers from hyper analysis of Ford's thought processes and actions. e.g. the midfield bit v. Argentina which is nothing special at all. He's a natural rugby player who can see what's on and can go for it. He'd be even better if he were not constrained by Jones' game plan and had a real 12 outside him.

Probably right
Also...if the Mail is to be believed, Jones doesn't even want him in the side
I'd love to see: Ford - Lawrence - Slade
Sounds like it could be: Farrell - Slade - Lawrence

We've seen consistently that when Ford is missing, we perform a lot worse.

Have we ever seen him picked without Farrell in the 23, with an attacking game plan and the feeedom to play whatever is in front of him?Stom wrote:We've seen consistently that when Ford is missing, we perform a lot worse.

Argentina tour 2017? Though I'm not sure how much of the latter 2 points were allowed as it was (by necessity) very experimentalOakboy wrote:Have we ever seen him picked without Farrell in the 23, with an attacking game plan and the feeedom to play whatever is in front of him?Stom wrote:We've seen consistently that when Ford is missing, we perform a lot worse.

Back in 2016. Ford led England's attack to a massacre of Wales (5 tries to 1). England were missing the players from the Prem Final whilst Wales were full strength. Ford had an off day with the boot which was still a thing in his game at the time.

With Farrell instead of Ford at 10, I think I’ll cheer for Scotland, but even if England lose, Jones won’t drop him.

2015 six nations against France, when we needed to score a lot, we got 55 points with Ford at 10, Burrell and Joseph in the centres.

But with Farrell at 12 it's the same. Or when Ford is on the bench. You can see us suddenly reeling in points deficits when he arrives.
And the video also addresses your oft repeated bugbear: "I never see Ford bossing Farrell around, it's always Farrell in charge" as Ford literally tells Farrell what to do in almost every clip involving the 2 of them.
