Many pundits had him pencilled in. (not so sure myself). I doubt any other English SH will now be considered, though I think old Danny Care is well worth a look on form. He would only have to play 3-4 games in SA, if that. Front runners are now probably Murray/Price/Davies/Williams, with perhaps Webb in the mix or even Cooney, who has been playing very well but unfortunately got clobbered against Saints a couple of days ago.

Given the tour is pretty short really, I wonder if the coaching staff will almost default to picking half back pairings rather than consider the likes of Cooney who would be a bolter.

Biggar/Davies, Sexton/Murray and Russell/Price and then at least if pairings don't gel they can fall back on a tried and tested combination.
