The irony is that had the Murimurivalu 'try' stood, Tigers would have come away with 5 points and a 50/50 chance of 7, given that the conversion was from the touchline. Sale would have restarted with 15 men. In the event, by going back for the penalty, Tigers came away with a penalty try and a 2 man advantage for 10 minutes.
