We are in trouble at lock, injuries and call ups. Think there could be a forwards mis-match in the offing

Wave goodbye to your set piece I'd imagine! Feel sorry for the props, who'll probably be the ones getting all the pens/cards, despite the fact it being due to the locks.

Yes. In the great words of Han Solo - I have a bad feeling about this.

No VR-R at loose head doesnt help either.

Clement starting is a good thing.

Saints only have 2 backs on the bench unless Alex Coles has transitioned to wing.

I'm surprised we've not started Augustus at 8! Think it may be somewhat based on having to start Fish as his throwing wasn't great in the pre season games so having Wood in the back row will help. Augustus to run riot in the 2nd half hopefully. Good to see Ribbans back in after missing out on England and pre season with his ban. Shame Freeman and Sleightholme are still out as I feel like Proctor is somewhat wasted on the wing, but this set of backs have all looked good in pre season so hopefully will go well on the firm pitch in some decent weather. Very much looking forward to this after the break.

Morgan at lock is … interesting.

Presumably all lineout ball will be going to Davidson and Ludlow?

Clement is a big lad as well, he might take a few. At least with all of Morgan's weight behind the tighthead the scrum should get a bit of reinforcement.

Is Clement much of an 8 or is that a workaround too?

Was hoping to find a stream of this but no such luck. Always used to be able to for the non televised games. Now it's impossible to watch the games not on BT, which for both Saints and Glos means we only get 3 games in the first 10 rounds. Saracens on the other hand get 8 game out of 10, which after watching the game last night isn't going to draw any new fans into the game.

Based on twitter comms it sounds like Furbank is having a stormer, first at 15 and now at 10 since Grayson got a yellow. Will be good to see him hit the kind of form that saw him break through - he certainly tailed off a bit the last season or so

I found a stream. Iffy game from both sides, penalty count high for glos and two yellow cards, the second of which resulted in two quick saints tries which was pretty much the difference in the end. Aside from that some decent tries but some dodgy handling and optional tackling from both. Standard 36 brain fart at the end to destroy any hopes of the lbp.

I'd imagine it's at the clubs' behest - they want to encourage people back into stadia, and get them out of the habit of being able to watch everything from home.

Good first up win for Saints. Glaws looking stronger than expected though.

That doesn't help those fans who don't / no longer live anywhere near the club. It's >5 hour round trip for me to get to Franklin's Gardens these days, so I'll generally only attend a couple of times in a season. Also, if rugby wants to grow, it needs to be easily accessed.

I recognise this as someone who lives 4 hours away from Welford Road, but I do understand the clubs' take on this. There are 3 televised games a week, plentiful free online highlights, and full match replays delayed by a couple of days, so it is very easily accessed, but the clubs do want a season ticket to be worth getting for people in their area.

I mean, I also say this as someone who has previously lived 10 minutes walk away from the Rec and turned down free Bath vs Leicester tickets because it was on television and it's a far better experience on tv than going to the Rec.

Looks like the weekly Ch5 highlights show with Flats and Durden-Smith has been canned too, which is a backwards step
