The 2 waterboys have been cited!

There are far too many of them and they should be confined to the teams technical area only coming on when allowed to by the officials. They're far more interested in dispensing instructions than refreshment.

It has been banned from the NFL, starting this year. I’d like them to crack down on it, just as they have/said they would with the ‘friendly’ ruffle of the hair after someone has made an error. Not quite sure how you police it, though, as it’s very subjective. One man’s ‘excessive celebration’ is another Itoje’s getting excited that the canteen are serving his favourite lunch.
Whilst we’re on the subject. I’d penalise scrumhalves who jostle/touch each other up at scrum time.

I still like the law they trialled in the MLR saying that 9s had to stay at their own back foot (or choose to join the defensive line) at scrums. Gave so much more room for 8 picks and thus incentivised playing the ball out of a dominant scrum rather than playing for penalties. Plus no more attacking 9 grinding his backside against the groin of the defending 9 in an attempt to block him from interfering with the pickup. Doesn't seem to have got much momentum at the IRB though, which is a shame.

They don't even need to change the laws to crack down on celebrating - just announce that refs are going to be enforcing ungentlemanly conduct more rigorously and penalise anyone acting like a dick. Make the big announcement, give refs the confidence that they're going to be backed and players notice that it's happening and it's their own fault if they get pinged. It is subjective, but any touching or direct engagement with the opposition would be enough for me and, if you've given notice, then anything close to the line is the players' fault, not the refs'.

It’s simply a bloody embarrassment.

At young master mwenda's ice hockey training, they practice their sliding post goal celebrations. I know it's a fun way to get them used to moving and falling on ice but the rugby player in me dislikes it intensely.

We are not far off some of the football dance routines, I fear, or the one where they more or less pretend to jerk off the corner flag. I yearn for the simple handshakes and brief back-slaps of yesteryear.

Do you not remember Exeter’s circle jerk celebrations?

"I think the high five should be outlawed from the game all together, it’s just a bit of seppo bullshit that the West Indies have introduced into the game. And I reckon when it comes to congratulating one of your teammates there’s simply no better way of doing it than with the traditional Australian hug or a kiss or a lick, a grope on the arse, or a bit of a dry root, it’s still the most appropriate way I think of showing one’s exuberance and excitement and it’s certainly the most masculine and manly way of going about it.”

I totally agree with this. I wish there was just a "don't take the piss" attitude to this stuff. Some games in the summer you really do need to have water but 90% they are not needed at all. Also no, rassie doesn't count as a waterboy ffs (see my "don't take the piss" thing).
