Agree with that Puja it's such a messy unorganised game.
Carley having warned Bath about their lineout defence is now refusing to officiate them at the maul. Three Bath players pulled down the leading Tigers players out the last one and the maul then tripped over the top of them.

Think that was actually a try, it went backwards, then forwards off the head to be scored.

The young prop there with a stupid rush of blood to the head moment gives Tigers a TBP.
Tigers weren't good but another TBP win scoring 40 points on the way ain't bad.
Bath fought had but the lack of structure is killing them. They've got some bright young players to build around moving forward but they've got build something because there's not a lot there at the minute.

Well, we got away with a 5 point victory and what appeared to be a comfortable victory on the scoreboard, but that was a dreadful performance, saved only by the fact that our oppo were even worse.

You know, I think you're right! I had just assumed it was a knock on with first watch, but I've gone back to look and that does look a try. If Wells celebrates that, it goes to the TMO and I'm pretty sure that gets given.Raggs wrote:Think that was actually a try, it went backwards, then forwards off the head to be scored.

I thought the same and I was willing that to be that case with Wells starting in my fantasy side.Raggs wrote:Think that was actually a try, it went backwards, then forwards off the head to be scored.

Yes, Fox has shown up pretty well this season. Not a night to remember for JvP who made some uncharacteristic errors.Scrumhead wrote:Quite impressed by Fox tonight. JvP has been poor in comparison.
The game itself was pretty well contested. Bath a bit better than expected, Tigers a bit worse than i thought they would be.

He's a defensive beast. Tackles and turnovers for days that boy. I suspect he won't get any love from Wales until he develops more in attack but if that means Tigers keep hold of him for longer then all the better.Peej wrote:Reffel impressing
Spot on over the Wells try not given. I didn't spot it at the time but it does come off his head. TMO didn't spot it either as he confirmed the knock on, good old "Tempo".
Not the best Tigers performance but some of the young lads putting their hands up. Chessum at 6 with another good all action performance, I want to see him in at lock again. Reffell in defence he was everywhere. Dan Kelly playing with a maturity beyond his years, he's becoming a very good 12 with increased distribution.

I'd put that on Wells more than the ref or TMO to be honest. Anyone not looking for a try, is just going to see a knock on without thinking about it. If Wells makes even a tiny fuss, they'd check it properly.

Agreed on all of that. Chessum's developing into a very good player of late - a real menace in the lineout and very efficient at the ruck. Could be a very high ceiling to him.FKAS wrote:He's a defensive beast. Tackles and turnovers for days that boy. Yep. Obviously early days, but a 6’7 lock/flanker with a good blend of physicality and mobility is an attractive prospect. I knew a fair bit about Martin before he broke through, but Chessum wasn’t on my radar before this season and I’ve been impressed.

Chessum coming along very nicely. Looks full of promise. Kelly improving. A couple of nice touches last night. He's not taking games by the scruff of the neck but makes solid, error free contributions.
For Bath, i rate Bailey and think Reid is a darn good player.

I was really impressed by Bailey, just so much composure from a young player. Seemed to take everything in his stride. Reid is a menace, will be a handy player for Bath to build with going forward.fivepointer wrote:Chessum coming along very nicely. Looks full of promise. Kelly improving. Chessum was a bit different, he didn't get a senior academy contract at Tigers and I believe they tipped off Nottingham where he kicked on and fought to improve. Tigers then brought him back in at 19. Not as obvious a future international as George Martin who was an academy star in an all conquering academy team but if Chessum can slot in at lock and offer that physicality in attack and defence over the next year or so as he naturally finishes filling out then he should be a pretty handy player might even get international consideration if he can round out his lock game well enough.
Raggs, Wells probably felt a bit odd and lonely being over the tryline without being in a heap from a rolling maul. Panicked him.
