Mike Rayer has always impressed me at Bedford, although as that is second tier you could argue that he doesn't have enough top flight exposure. Young is probably in pole position amongst the Welsh coaches at the moment, at least amongst the public. Stan is probably the front runner in the current set ups opinion. Unless there is another foreign coach who would be tempted.

He may not, but I suspect that even the lure of success with Wasps would pale into absolute insignificance next the Wales job.

He's deffinatly in pole position IMO but I'd be concerned that it takes him a few years to bring a team on. He took a few years at both Cardiff and Wasps, not sure "fans" or the media would put up with a slow start especially considering Gatlands instant success.

My concern as well. There is a difference: at club level he can't just slot any player he wants into the plan. But on the other side of the coin, he can only select from one country's stock. Having said that, his initial tests would be in the 6N, it's not like we'd be playing NZ or anyone difficult.

Assuming he's not broken again this year, there's a pretty solid chance they'll get him too. Hell, most of us could probably match the ARU's offers with what we'd find in our pockets right now, considering the financial state that they're in half the time.

It is reckoned they are willing to make him the best paid player in world rugby (I think I heard £1.5m a year), perhaps they didn't need to go so gung-ho from what you say!
